Well Hell's Bells! I could have sworn this topic was about Carowinds? I mean maybe I was misreading it but I see a lot of talk about Kings Island and thought I was lost.

I still say the number one thing the park 'needs' and what might be a reasonable addition would be a new flat thrill ride. I would love to also see a Planet Snoopy expansion but the location of it would be one issue. The most reasonable location would be within Woodstock Express where maybe 2-3 rides would fit well. You would have to have one of those 'railroad crossing' situations but quite a few parks have those so no big deal I guess. I guess the most logical entrance would be between the train station and the covered bridge. It could lead into the new area with 2-3 rides, a bathroom and maybe a drink/food stand. I suppose a bridge crossing over could be possible also considering the height would not have to be too great since it is a mini train. If not an entire expansion then one new ride in that area in front of the bottom of the drop on the Intimidator. Other ideas would be new B&M trains on the Vortex and new Vekoma trains for Cyclone. I still agree our next major coaster will be 2015 and no we are not getting a giga. I continue to scratch my head on that one. A CGI woody, a wing coaster or a launcher.....or maybe The Time Machine from Freestyle might interrupt Carowinds/Cedar Fairs plan for what 'they' could be thinking our next coaster will be.

That is an excellent example of how a small PS expansion could be done. A decorative but open fence would go on the inside part of the track, toward the expansion in the center. Some garden area with some flowers, greenery and/or maybe some fun Planet Snoopy statues and fun theming could go outlining the inside of the track along the fence area which would be on the outside portion of the new expansion within the track. This would keep kids from walking onto the track. Maybe add a small ice cream or drink stand, some benches and some trash cans and there you go.

I guess somebody at Screamscape spoke before they knew what they were talking about. He's back peddling now...

And it's not a Giga...

Oh, you're right...I really don't think that they would put a wing coaster so close to CP only a year after CP. If anyone gets a wing coaster in the near future, I think it will be Carowinds, in 2015.

Didnt someone say something about cedar fair saying the wing coaster will be special to CP? Even if not I coludnt see carowinds getting it,I think most likely new wood coaster or LSM launch. If they put the entrance for it in county fair there is plenty of space for an LSM in the parking lot on the other side of thunder road. As for a new wood coaster tear down hurler, move bus parking lot, and theres PLENTY of space for a good sized wood coaster.

I mean where else could a wing coaster go? I would think they'd have to take something out (Hurler- please) to put something in that takes up that much square footage...

Why does everyone hate the Hurler so much? I mean, it's way too bumpy, but it's a cool ride. I guess I wouldn't miss it if they tore it down, though. A nice big GCI would be nice in that area, if they completely redid the parking lot (they NEED to do that), and made it more compact.

Hurler is better than Mean Streak and Hurricane cat 5. Also is a cake walk compared to Ga. Cyclone anf GASM.

I'll be honest, Hurler is so bumpy it's fun.....

HOWEVER, I prefer a bumpy/fun ride like Thunder Road because it makes me want to ride it over and over, plus it's a classic. I would not regret getting rid of Hurler, I jus think something much better could take its place.

I'm allowed to dream, right?

Carowinds would buy Tweetsie Railroad and move the actual trains to Carowinds. The train "ride" would feature a train robbery (like in the old days of Tweetsie-- not the silly slap-stick stuff they do now). The train would also be actual transportation to a new land (like at Animal Kingdom and like soon to be Harry Potter at Universal).

I'm still of the opinion Carowinds needs "family" attractions. There's a huge gap between kiddie rides and thrill rides.

I think the new Cedar Fair CEO, Matt Ouimet, agrees with you. He's a guy with 17 years of experience at Disney (including as president of Disneyland) and has been on record saying he wants to put more family-oriented dark rides into the parks.

bgwfreak wrote:Based on the patern I've seen with Cedar Fair, I'd guess nothing big until 2015.

2009 - Diamondback
2010 - Intimidator

2014 - King's Island mystery ride
2015 - Carowinds mystery ride???

How in the world is that considered a pattern???

If any park that seems to have a pattern with carowinds its kings dominion and I think that's not the case anymore...well there was the intimidators...

What's possible for 2014??? Anything! But if they don't get a substantial water park expansion with a signature slide that was designed within the lat year or so I don't know what to say. After spending time at aquatica and water Country usa, I've become a water park snob and if the park gets a vanishing point style slide complex I'm definetly there!
