That would be awesome, but it sure would take up a lot of space.

I would say no more than what that one family raft slide takes up. All this comes from one slide tower...I would even say get of one of the tube slides for this!

and proslides>>>>>>>>>whitewater west

As awesome and amazing as this would be, I can't help but think we would be more likely to receive a clone of what Worlds of Fun got this year. Which still looks fun but nothing like that monstrosity of a water slide!

be careful what you wish for. Any big addition to the water park would more than likely result in the formation of a Soak City at Carowinds and the introduction to separate tickets for both parks.

Cedar Fair has shown literally the exact opposite trend. Oceans of Fun, which was a separate admission, was just combined this year to be included with Worlds of Fun admission. Cedar Point and Knott's are now the only Cedar Fair properties with separate gate water parks. They can probably get away with it because they are more vacation/resort destinations. Carowinds, Kings Dominion, Kings Island, Great America, Canada's Wonderland, Worlds of Fun, Dorney Park, Michigan's Adventure, and Valleyfair are all single admission. Dorney Park and Kings Island both have water parks much bigger than the one at Carowinds.

I hope it isn't a water park expansion. I'd much rather see well, really anything else. But, I'm slightly biased, seeing as how I do not particularly enjoy water-activities. haha.

Also, off topic, just realized that I registered to this site almost 10 years ago....where has the time gone, and what could I possibly have been doing on a message board at age 11?

Agreed, even though it would still be cool to have the 14th coaster in 2014. Which is even more unlikely because personally I believe a coaster (cyclone) will be removed since we're beginning to run out of room for a MASSIVE new coaster. Unless carowinds decides to do something with the 60+ acres they bought in 2011.

I went there yesterday, and while riding the intimidator, I noticed a few stakes in the field in front of the intimidator. I was too far away to see if there was anything written on them, but you might be able to if you took a picture from the main path and zoomed in. I also saw the building that might be a new scarowinds maze behind cobra.

Confirmed!!! There are stakes in the Intimidator field !!!!!

There's nothing out there. You probably saw remnants from this which tore up the grass a little.

Why does everyone assume the next coaster going into Carowinds will be huge? And why does everyone assume there isn't room to put a huge coaster in?

Both assumptions have no merit.

We never said it would be huge, but considering we haven't gotten a coaster since 2010, it's a pretty good chance that we'll get one in 2014 or 2015. And it will probably not be too small either.

Could they build a giga?

I know, it's very similar to the Intimidator, but that was all I could come up with. Plus, if they added parking there, they could close off another section of the parking lot and redo it, and repeat until the whole thing makes more sense!

Pros of this design:
Being able to say that we have a giga
Getting rid of the Hurler
Redoing the parking lot
Bringing some much needed attention to that end of the park

Cons:
Getting rid of the Hurler (it's a decent ride, and I might kind of miss it)
Being too similar to the Intimidator.

Assuming Kings Island is getting a giga, then 2015 seems possible for us to get a coaster.

However, I really can't see a giga coming as much as I'd enjoy one.

My wish list:
GCI woodie
B&M giga
B&M floorless
B&M wing coaster

I really doubt we'd get another woodie, unless they tore down Hurler and I can't see them doing that.

GCI Woodie, meh, don't think I'd like one to go to Carowinds. They look fun but I'm sure it would get bumpy after a few years. I rode gatekeeper a few weeks ago at Cedar Point and wasn't as impressed as I thought I would be. Don't get me wrong, if they were to add one at Carowinds I'd ride it! But considering it had only been open for about a month, and its a B&M, not very smooth. I had a headache when I got off one of the times I rode it. So a wing coaster wouldn't be my first choice of a new coaster. What we could really use is an inverted impulse coaster. Sure it's Intamin, but I rode Wicked Twister as many times as I could. It's a launch, doesn't take up much space, and it's literally a blast!
