Clearly you have never ridden a GCI. They don't get bumpy, unless you don't inspect it at all. I rode Thunderhead at Dollywood in May, which is now 9 years old, and it was still smooth as glass just like when I rode it in 2004. GCI knows what they're doing.

You're absolutely right, I actually have ridden thunderhead back in 2011 and I remember it being very smooth. Forgot about that. Still not something I'd hope to see carowinds get though. Yeah if one was built at Carowinds I'd ride it for sure! But my hopes are on a launch or any B&M we don't have yet. (Except a sitting coaster)!

With a new person who is finally getting past plans that were already laid at the helm, I don't think any speculation can be based off of past precedent. I do know that Oimet is focused on family offerings. Look at what he's done recently. He added a small coaster and a couple small flats to knotts,and he's having both dark rides renovated. A dark ride will be coming to CP, I guarantee that. Sooner rather than later.

Maybe Carowinds will get a new big coaster soon, or a small thrill coaster, or maybe a family coaster. Nothing them company has done in the past counts for now.

I've heard that Kentucky Rumbler is a bit bumpier these days, but that is probably all due to the park and how the maintain it. Wooden coasters though always need work if you are going to keep it smooth.

I just hope Cedar Fair doesnt tear down the plantation house, however a wing coaster replacing Skycoaster and doing a dive loop around the Courtyard bridge would give the area an interesting look.

I think they will be renovating the entry plaza and hopefully repaving all the parking lot areas... they need some work.. I dont see it being a coaster, but who knows. I saw all the red dots and the marks all around the entry area outside and inside the park... If carowinds is the "cedar point" of the south.... it makes sense to re-make the entry plaza... right? I think a new entry would be very nice and would go well with the new picnic area etc. The park does need some makeover work done and if thats what they do for 2014, I would be fine with that. I also think they really really really need to re-build some parts of the water park, like the kids play zone. Half the stuff doesn't work, they need to rip it down and build something bigger and better and wetter for kids. They need to add stuff to the lazy river because its just not that great... I dont really care if they add a new slide or not... I just think some new themeing, paint, and fixing would be great. I think its time to clean up the park some and make it look really nice. Some work to the front of the park and to the waterpark is what I hope they do. If they expand the waterpark, I do believe it would go under thunder road, there is already a road there and I believe its KD that has their waterpark go under there woodie... Guess we will just have to wait and see

^I think you're probably right. This would be an odd area for a new coaster since it is so close to Intimidator, not to mention where would the station actually go?

Yea that was my thoughts as well, I just don't see it being a coaster... Renovations here we come!

Darnit you guys beat me to it.

I saw some of these red flags out at the drop off zone on Sun but when I looked at them they said "underground cable" I also saw some stakes I think but they were kind of far off in the field.

My thoughts

I love the idea of the parking lot expansion and the front renovation. The coaster idea is good, but it seems that they are neglecting the nc side of the park. I think they should do something over by the hurler instead of make the area around the intimidator even more crowded than it already is.

I can logically see that field being used for a coaster like that, but I don't logically see a station there. The parking expansion is more logical, and it would make sense for the markers to be underground cable markers for power for streetlights to the lot.

I doubt they are going to pave over that field for parking either. It would be a bizarre project. The park already has a massive parking lot that I have never seen filled even on the busiest days of the year. If they wanted to do premium parking as Screamscape suggested they could just use the current season passholder lot or mark off the area of the current parking lot that is closest to the gate for it. Parking is very expensive to construct and maintain, so I don't see what the benefit would be of such a project. Unless it is part of a long-term plan to expand the park into parts of the current parking lot, but that doesn't seem very feasible given the layout of the park.
