General Carowinds discussion

I am from Pennslyvania, I have been a loyal Dorney Park guest for years. On Saturday October 5, I will be driving through the Charlotte area, and would like to visit Carowinds during the day. I would like to know how crowded the park will be during the daytime session. How long are lines? Are any rides closed? At Dorney Park, the park is really empty during the day and jam-packed at night. So I want know what to expect at Carowinds. I have gone to Carowinds once, back in August 2008. I enjoyed it, but I noticed the park has a few more new rides. If any of you got suggestions for my October visit, please let me know.

Also, does Fast Lane slow down the regular lines at Carowinds? I read reviews that the Cedar Point Fast Lane slows down the lines, so I hope the Carowinds has a better system. I wasn't thinking of buying it, but would I need it the day I am going?

Also, if any of you are ever planning a trip to Dorney Park then visit our fan page at dorneyonline.com for tips and suggestions.

Going to Carowinds during the day before SCarowinds is a sort of good idea if you have a season pass. The park before the haunt kicks up at 7 is completely dead. I'm talking almost no lines on everything from my experience. The Fast Lane doesn't really slow down lines. I've only seen it happen, like, twice of the 100+ times I've visited there and from the times I've work there. I guess if you're passing through and in a hurry, it would be worth it because nobody wants to go to the park before SCarowinds.
