I think they are gonna push the entrance out further. with a new parking lot. when the park is busy, the entrance area now feels very tight.

I think they are moving things around so they can build something in 2015. Much like they started by shutting down the log flume in 2008 and started sight work for Intimidator.

it doesnt have to be for 2015. We have had such mild winters they can work straight til spring. A coaster for 2014 isn't out of the question. However, I dont think thats what it is, my best guess is parking and a improved entrance.

I think that most CF parks now only get a major new roller coaster every 5 years. It will be five since Intimidator, so I'm guessing we won't see a new coaster next year.

Hmm. Well, while at the park last night, I saw more paint dots over in PS. I also saw a lot of them on the right side of Thunder Road.

While leaving the park today, going down Carowinds Blvd, I noticed along the carowinds side of the road, stakes. There was one maybe every 100 ft, and so I looked at them. Here's what they said:
2007
2008
2009
2010
And I had gotten into a different lane so I couldn't read the last one, but I'm pretty sure that it said two things.

Perhaps they are preparing to redesign the front entrance area, and add a major new ride in that area. Similar to the idea of Cedar Point putting Gatekeeper as a signature attraction at the front of the park. I would love to see Carowinds add another big coaster, hopefully a Gigacoaster this time. I think they have a contract with B&M, so maybe Kings Island will get a big inverted coaster and Carowinds a big wingrider. Or a Giga. But we shall soon see, as future announcements are usually made in August. But it is true some new flat rides are much needed as well. But hopefully some major new attraction will be built next year.

Would love to see some new flats preferably being a Maxair. If I were to replace a coaster I would bulldoze the Hurler and put up something similar to Maverick at CedarPoint to spice up that area of the park. But like most here have already posted I've seen the markings around the entrance of the park and so that is probably the direction I see them going.

Now that Kings Island has made their big announcement for next year, I am hoping Carowinds will be next with a big new coaster coming soon. The Banshee looks like a great ride, and I hope Carowinds will also get something good. I have always loved Top Gun/Afterburn, but Ohio is a bit of a drive for both KI and Cedar Point. Especially CP. But I do enjoy Skyline and Goldstar Chili when I am up there, and Frisch's Big Boy. Definitely need to plan a trip next year to ride Gatekeeper and Banshee. And always Millenium Force.
