A Huss Giant Frisbee would be really nice in front of Intimidator, they only cost about 4.5 million dollars, and it would be the only one in the south, as well as one of three in the world!

Did anyone else see this? They said more will be announced next month, but the news showed where the 60acres was bought, out behind the exit road to the SP parking lot....

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — On Tuesday, Eyewitness News took a tour inside Carowinds to learn how the new $50 million investment will benefit the Carolinas.

Spokesperson Julie Whitted took Eyewitness News inside Carowinds, now closed during the week, but still a very busy place.

Workers are prepping for Scarowinds, building three new attractions, including one called London Terror.

"Roller coasters clicking and clacking and people screaming," said Whitted.

But it is nothing compared to the $50 million expansion that will start in 2014.

Whitted could not say where or what they will build. Outside firms often design the big rides, so Eyewitness News asked how locals will benefit, and Carowinds said the expansion will increase their workforce by 10 percent, 270 new seasonal jobs and 15 full times.

"People come to us and work in teenage years, acquire valuable skill sets. They take into their careers," said Richard Zimmerman from Cedar Fair.

It is great timing for Culvers restaurant across the street that opened in June.

"That is huge. That shows they will continue to be successful over there and that will help us with the increase in volume," said Mike Sundermeier.

If Carowinds owner Cedar Fair is being secretive about construction plans, they are making no secret of their commitment to Charlotte.

Cedar Fair said more details on the expansion will be released next month and work will start next year.

In the meantime, Carowinds plan to hire a record 700 people for Scarowinds this year, they have 200 jobs still open.

I was hoping more info would be released this week hahhaha. Oh well, guess we play the waiting game still...

I feel like I've said this a million times, but there are more than 3 Huss Giant Frisbees.

Two of course in America at Cedar Point and Kings Island.
There are at least 3 in China at Chimelong Paradise, Happy Valley Beijing and Happy Valley Wuhan.
There are at least 2 in Japan at Nagashima SpaLand and Fuji-Q Highland.
And 1 in Belgium at Bobbejaanland.

I'd be willing to bet I'm missing some as well.

And also there are more manufacturers of the Giant Swing ride than Huss. Zamperla, Intamin, Mondial, Moser, Technical Park. Lots of options.

But yes, some sort of giant swinging pendulum ride, or S&S Screamin' Swing would look fantastic in the Intimidator yard. I'm sure Carowinds has plans for that space. Maybe not next year, but sometime soon.

Seems I got my facts mixed up.

I hope they put one in soon, just ask Jarsh, he probably knows.

I was just browsing around at some different manufactuers websies to look at some different style flat rides, just for fun, and I came across this :

Wouldnt this be a cool ride in front of intimidator? I could see this being a tire as well and being called BURNOUT

You can look at scenery anywhere. As a 32 year old I would prefer to spend my money wisely. I don't go to a fancy restaurant for the scenery, I go for food. Just like I love AMUSEMENT PARKS for rides. And yes I do spend at the least 75% of the time on rides. I'm a passholder so being selfish isn't a bad thing if I'm investing in it. If they give us crap then I guess I'll go elsewhere.

People dont and wouldnt pay for Disney if it was just rides with no scenery. How many amusement parks are around that predate Disneyland? How many of those amusement parks are just ride after ride? Even the great Cedar Point has themed sections with scenery. Family Kingdom is the only park that comes to my mind and if it wasnt on the beach, it wouldnt survive.

Nah, you don't. And it's fine that you feel that way (or at least think you feel that way), but the vast majority of people don't.

Also, where else are you going to go? It sounds like the traveling carnival at the local mall probably suits your needs.

I am ALL ABOUT scenery, terrain, trees, water, theming, proper lighting, attractive shops, pavers and great restaurants in an amusement park. That is not my most important thing but a big part of it. Going to be park with 'just rides' is one that I would likely not return. That sounds to me like some sort of dirty traveling carnival. Great parks like Dollywood, Disney, Busch Gardens, Knoebels and others are awesome in this area.

It's kind of like I tell my kids... "People will say, 'you can't judge a book by its cover,' but guess what... PEOPLE DO."

If the place looks nice and clean, has nice plants and fountains and some atmosphere-- people will come. They will feel good about it and they will spend money. Now, all that stuff is not the "reason" they go... but if it's not there it will be a reason they stay away.

I have neighbors with teenagers and they haven't been to Carowinds in years. The last time they went (when their kids were small), they said it was dirty and they were grossed out by all the gum stuck on the walls in the queue areas. This same family has been to Disney World more times than I can count. I have to believe the current management at Cedar Fair knows this.
