You could be right but the news conference suggested otherwise: record breaking attractions, infrastructure, Charlotte growth and #4 in the chain. If it is primarily an infrastructure deal I would have expected them to emphasize that by saying something to the effect, 'expand the park to enhance the attendee experience', and left it at that. Repositioning the park in the same way they have done with Wonderland comes to mind. When they acquired park, popular rumor says they wanted to make it the Cedar Point of the south east. We all know Carowinds has been an 'also ran' place for years. We get attractions after others received them. Look at Wonderland, they got Leviathan, and now they are getting a really cool and unique dark ride.
Some would argue our numbers don't justify the investment. Many of us thought little ole Carowinds would never get a hyper. I feel with the right type of attention, the park could become a destination park. Dollywod has gone from nothing to something very special by creating a very unique situation. Cedar Fair is all about records, it that plain and simple. They have never tried to be a Dollywood, Busch, or Disney. I don't expect them to turn Carowinds into one of those park either by leaning heavily on atmosphere. Think about it, the little bit of atmosphere Ki, KD, and Wonderland all have came from previous owners. Fair came in and did nothing but threw up record breaking attraction with barely a theme. Why do some of you think they are going to spend millions to reface the park entrance? I expect them to move it outward to claim part of the parking lot and throw up a big ugly record breaking attraction and call it the day. Fair don't seem to be too keen on a bunch of flats either, which I would love to see.

Agreed 100%. This is why I believe Intimidator will remain the tallest and fastest ride in the park for the next 3 years. I see more improvements involving the water park and upgrades than anything. Likely some new "family" rides or possibly an expansion in the kid area. I can only hope we get a nice coaster but I just don't see anything to huge being on the books, at least not with this $50m expansion plan... Hopefully I am wrong?
