Agreed 100%. This is why I believe Intimidator will remain the tallest and fastest ride in the park for the next 3 years. I see more improvements involving the water park and upgrades than anything. Likely some new "family" rides or possibly an expansion in the kid area. I can only hope we get a nice coaster but I just don't see anything to huge being on the books, at least not with this $50m expansion plan... Hopefully I am wrong?

You could be right but the news conference suggested otherwise: record breaking attractions, infrastructure, Charlotte growth and #4 in the chain. If it is primarily an infrastructure deal I would have expected them to emphasize that by saying something to the effect, 'expand the park to enhance the attendee experience', and left it at that. Repositioning the park in the same way they have done with Wonderland comes to mind. When they acquired park, popular rumor says they wanted to make it the Cedar Point of the south east. We all know Carowinds has been an 'also ran' place for years. We get attractions after others received them. Look at Wonderland, they got Leviathan, and now they are getting a really cool and unique dark ride.
Some would argue our numbers don't justify the investment. Many of us thought little ole Carowinds would never get a hyper. I feel with the right type of attention, the park could become a destination park. Dollywod has gone from nothing to something very special by creating a very unique situation. Cedar Fair is all about records, it that plain and simple. They have never tried to be a Dollywood, Busch, or Disney. I don't expect them to turn Carowinds into one of those park either by leaning heavily on atmosphere. Think about it, the little bit of atmosphere Ki, KD, and Wonderland all have came from previous owners. Fair came in and did nothing but threw up record breaking attraction with barely a theme. Why do some of you think they are going to spend millions to reface the park entrance? I expect them to move it outward to claim part of the parking lot and throw up a big ugly record breaking attraction and call it the day. Fair don't seem to be too keen on a bunch of flats either, which I would love to see.

That cedar fair you talk about is dead. Look at all of knotts recent additions. Carowinds and knotts are two cedar fair parks that can be easy themed, as a matter of fact, we just don't get how well themes they both already are..

Instead, maybe it could be converted to a history of Carowinds museum. Does anybody know if the upper floor is accessible, or are those windows fake?

how old is the "plantation" house?

I hope cedar fair is smart enough to realize tearing down the house would end in a very negative result from the public. IMO, I would make it an attraction let people walk around inside and look at carowinds history, move the turn styles into another building in front of it.

FYI: world record breaking attraction does NOT have to be a roller coaster.... Six Flags has a world record breaking drop tower already and will build a bigger one next year and they will be building a record breaking 400ft tall sky screamer as well... Just because its "record breaking" doesn't mean its a coaster at all.

We know for a fact that we will get some type of ride, what they meant by record breaking is debatable.

When asked if Carowinds would see a new "record breaking" ride-attraction:
" Let's just say, I ride everything we build, and I can't wait to ride what we're going to build at Carowinds," Zimmerman Said

Record-breaking could also mean some type of record-breaking water slide, complex, etc for Boomerang Bay.

That's what I'm hoping the bulk of the ride portion of the $50M goes towards. The water park is severely lacking in slides. So many new types of slides/water rides have come out since they added our last slides in '02(?). Boomerang Bay is just BEGGING for new slides/complexes/towers, and an expansion on the other side of Thunder Road would be PERFECT.

Well I just got an email back that I sent on August 26, I was asking about details on the expansion. While they cant give me full details they said everything is still being worked out and she did tell me that some of my suggestions and ideas were on their to-do and wish lists. She also stated that more details regarding phase 1 will be released "soon" and to follow social media... I hope the main idea that is on their TO DO list that i suggested is paint afterburn! Just thought I would share this information, not that its much more than we already knew hahaha. I did ask about the details being released at C3, so waiting on a reply back on that...

All the things I have mentioned here.... such as the new parking lots, new entry plaza, painting afterburn etc. I also brought up the resort.... that my guess is on the "wishlist" I did get a reply back from her and here is what she stated:

Hi Dustin, I’m not sure any details will be released for the ACE event but we are looking forward to hosting you and your friends on the 21st. It should be a great visit!
See you then!
