General Carowinds discussion

Giant failure? Carowinds has had it for 10 seasons, over twice the seasons that PGA(Now CGA) had it. Windseeker would be closer to a giant failure but I doubt it is going anywhere. I dont think any of our rides are failures.

Here is the official information from the park on the restaurant upgrades:

In addition to the 2 new slides, Carowinds will enhance the dining experience and food offerings at the park with a multi-million dollar investment. The investment will provide guests with a broader variety of food service options; additional air-conditioned venues and expanded capacity to feed and entertain the thousands of daily visitors at the park. Information on Carowinds schedule, prices and attractions can always be found online at www.carowinds.com

That's what I got from it too. And they did say that they'll be more details to come on the restaurant part of the announcement.

With the further details on restaurants, I hope they're adding new resturaunts that are not accessible in the region. Like a food joint from the west coast or something. I'm sure this have already been discussed somewhere.

Maybe I'm going way left field, but have anyone noticed the new turning lane on carowinds blvd. that goes into the south gate parking lot exit? I doubt its just for u-turns. Maybe just maybe that will be the parking for the waterpark if they construct a separate entrance. I'm just guessing.

Not trying to disprove ya but the right turning lane (from 77) has been there for years and it never made sense to me since that is an exit only and is rarly open. The left turning lane I want to say was added in 2006 but I may have it confused as that summer they were doing work on Carowinds Blvd.
The parking lot could use a second exit to Carowinds Blvd and the one by Thunder Road would be easy, just add a stoplight.

It's hard to add restaurants that aren't from the region if there's no distribution center to supply a local branch so I don't see that happening. On the bright side, there's a new Culver's at the park entrance area, first one I've seen out this way.

Oh no this is a new left turn lane right past the light to the employee parking going towards 77. I definitely remember the traffic horrors for that small addition lol.

I also see your point with the supply for out of region food joints as well. I just don't see the point of having the same food joints in the park that I can down the street for. I did see when Culvers was established and agree its the first I've seen down south lol. Enough with my rants I'm just glad we are getting the slides for 2014. I wish there were more than two natural but I'm still pleased. The waterpark is long overdue for expansion.
