Wow, it looks like nothing on Google Maps but that picture makes it look huge. I am also surprised they are sticking to the Boomerang Bay name. I cant believe it but for once I cant wait for the waterpark to open.

Still wish we'd get some kind of non-kiddie Flat though.

What's the last one we got?

And I'm excited. Boomerang Bay is definitely going to be make a lot of other waterparks jealous, especially the other Cedar Fair parks. :)

I can probably speak for most around and say we weren't even expecting this. I think most of us were expecting the park to start spending the money next year but not making any additions for next year. Most of us were expecting to see some parking lot/infrastructure first...this is totally a surprise. I'm thankful for this. It shows the park is listening and care. So let's keep talking...but that's different from whining...

^^I completely agree. Most of us expected the 2014 'addition' to be some dirt being moved around out front and to not see anything inside the park from the $50 mil until 2015. Even though I don't like water parks very much and haven't been to Boomerang Bay in 2 years, I'm extremely excited because I know so many people who love the water park. It is great for Carowinds' bottom line. For you water park lovers, I'm willing to bet that the $50 mil will include another set of slides for the water park before it's all said and done.

I personally think we will see the park try to use every plot available within the current footprint before expanding outside the boundaries. There are still some sizable plots within the park that can be used for something big and major...

Very nice announcement! I am very please with what they are doing next year with the slides, always wanted to try a "toilet bowl" slide. I have did the funnel slide thing at great wolfe... it was pretty neat. Very please and cant wait til next summer!

Well now that the "what is possible for 2014" thread has run its course, this seems as good a place as any for a recap. Keeping in mind the overlap between that thread and the 3 year expansion one, (which should continue to generate discussion for some time to come), this is an unscientific recap of the aforementioned thread only. I like doing these from time to time :P

Predictions and/or wishes in order of relevance and mentions (and not too shabby):
New flat. They do make them. We'll keep asking for them.
Waterpark expansion. Or addition. Ding!
Planet Snoopy expansion, including family and kiddie rides.
Infrastructure (including entrance makeover, roads, parking lots).
That silly hotel.
A new paint job for Afterburn (again).
A different station for Nighthawk.
Water, shade, trees, flowers. You know, atmosphere.

Not one mention of expanded food options or air-conditioned restaurants. At least not even hinted at until after the three year expansion announcement was made.

And that new coaster for 2014, which would have included.. hmm, let's see.. a giga (rolls eyes), a strata (gouges eyes), a launch, GCI woodie, and a wing (sigh of relief).

Honorable mentions: A flintstone village, new trains (B&M for Vortex, Vekoma for Cyclone, and the trains from Tweetsie!), adult Spinning Tea Cups, a giant font, blue benches, simply enjoying yourself in 2013, and an asteroid.

Side topics and discussions: Huss frisbee (as usual), other flavors of a frisbee (as usual), airport proximity height clearance (as usual), cedar point cedar point cedar point (as usual), drop tower comparisons, Time Machine, what KI was gonna get (Giga vs. Invert - um), more than a few Google Earth giga doodles, more than a few self-deleted/edited posts from RollerNut, trash cans, paint dots, survey flags, STAKES!, the Paladium, the importance or irrelevance of park atmosphere, season pass prices (as usual), and about a dozen posts from a member that made me want to swear off lemon candy.

Now for the three dreaded words 'back on topic', good news for those in 2014 wanting their chlorine fix, and for those of us who eat. Although I wouldn't be surprised if they don't at least get started moving some dirt around…
