General Carowinds discussion

I am hoping for a rennovation to Wings, which is where I usually eat if I dont leave the park and come back.... I would love to see them have a bigger menu and sell wings and such.... The country kitchen would also be nice to be rennovated as well... Guess we will see...

Jwrickner wrote:There is only one restaurant that I would like to see added to the park: Golden Corral  . All jokes aside, I would love to see a wing place like a Buffalo Wild Wings added.

Imagine the prices, local one is charging $13+. One at Carowinds would likely charge $20.

Maybe we will get all you can eat pizza buffet, that would be great. And maybe they will change the pizzas they have now to make them better, as I think they are frozen.... Busch Gardens had the best all you can eat pizza ever. The "smores pizza" was amazing!

So? That's like saying you don't think it's a good idea to sell burgers because there's a burger joint outside the park. Heck, there a food court within walking distance of the front gate but they have several food places in the park n

Edwardo wrote:King's Islands (Very Golden Corral like) buffet was around $15. I see one coming to Carowinds. I also see a Game Day Grille. Maybe not now, but eventually.

With or without drink? I added drink prices into my numbers. If it is with drink, $15(especially of souivner cup refill) it would a good value.

We also learn from the Charlotte City Council agenda that Cedar Fair is planning a new roller coaster as a part of the expansion. The plan is to build Carowinds attendance to 2.5 million a year, up from the current 1.9 million at the park.

Cedar Fair also expects the expansion will prompt visitors to rent an additional 20,000 room-nights in area hotels once complete.

This part peaked my interest.

It stood out to me that this new Coaster, presumably the 'record breaking attraction', is expected to draw in 600,000 Freash Faces to Carowinds once its installed. That's a ton of people that would be attracted to it, so it seems to me like it will be something much more special than just any old run of the mill coaster. :)

Simple, MIA will expand when they get the attendance to necessitate such an expansion. There is no reason to expand if the park can't expect a reasonable return on investment.

Muskegon, Michigan isn't quite the booming metropolis that Charlotte is.

The only reason Carowinds is getting the money is because they expect to make that money back many times over. Something Michigan's Adventure hasn't done with the few major investments Cedar Fair has made. (River Rapids, Vekoma SLC) They have historically done better with small investments/park improvements.

Well, there you have it, it will be a coaster and it will be record breaking. Taking that into consideration, that leaves few options. It will not be a Banshee, we have that. Dolly has a Wing so you can't say first in the southeast, and Fair has never shown a desire up upstage anything the Point has, so I would not expect a bigger one here. Wood is a possibility but you may have to do a lot to break records. That sort of leaves a Giga standing alone. Folk from all over would flock to ride the first B&M giga in the US. Some sort of launch is possible but like with wood, you would have to do a lot to break records. I guess a dive machine is a possibility. It would not take much to break the current record on those.
