General Carowinds discussion

its just an underutilized structure. Some of the concerts there are free. It just seems to me that the use of the land there could generate cf more revenue if used for daily attrations instead once every few months.

a very very rough sketch what this does is put carowinds big new coasters up front when you drive in and can be seen quite well in the skyline. It will draw attention to it from I77. a huge coaster on either side of the gate. I think that works.

They very seldom have big concerts at the Palladium anymore, since Charlotte now has other venues such as Verizon amphitheater, Bojangles arena, and Time Warner arena. Plus Carolina Music Factory. So I could see Palladium being removed to make room for a big new coaster at the front of the park. And the Gatekeeper photo was probably given as a hypothetical example of a major new attraction, but not the actual design. They had to give city council some info to win approval for incentives. 300ft is correct, but otherwise a false Gatekeeper photo to keep the secret and keep people guessing until the official announcement is made next year. Probably a 300ft Giga similar to Leviathan or possibly Millenium Force is a more likely possibility. But will it be B&M or Intamin? Probably B&M since that seems to be the current pattern, but we shall see.

The only inability to comprehend comes from your black and white view of things that is either atmosphere or rides and nothing in between, which no one else on here shares. You should be more worried about the "new users acting like jackasses to everyone police."

The Palladium may be under utilized now but it does not have to be. The company could take a page from other parks and develop some type of an out door event such as what you would find at Sea World. I know that is a lot to ask of Cedar Fair, considering they held Sponge Bob for about 10 years because they did not invest in a replacement. With any luck, the new coaster will run through Dinosaurs Alive and make them extinct.

The Palladium didn't host Spongebob, that's was the Action Theater. Cedar Fair hasn't owned Carowinds for 10 years, and they kept Spongebob until Dinosaurs Alive arrived, but could have kept it a couple more years because they still had license from Paramount/Viacom for the Nickelodeon themeing. But eventually it would have had to been removed.

Anyway, not a chance that it'll go anywhere near Dinosaurs Alive. This new coaster will be exclusively on the North Carolina side of the park, Dinos is practically the polar opposite of the area it (may) be going (Thrill Zone).

I think the Palladium might be a goner, but it is used more often than most people think.
School Trips, Concerts, Cheerleading, Band, Chorus, Sports, Field Trips, etc all meet/perform there. But who'd really be crying if it went away? Especially if we got a 315 Ft. Coaster to replace the area it was in.

But I doubt they'd go through the trouble of removing it for a simple Roller Coaster (if the do at all), but I'd bet their new enterance plaza with definitely be in the general area around both sides of the current enterance area, including what is now the Palladium "lawn". :)
