LOL! Maybe they won't serve beer there .

It should have a few different restaurant choices inside of it and will seat 500. That should give you an idea of the projected size of it. I also hear 'in the field beside Intimidator' for the location.

I wanted to see some new flats, too, but I'm not complaining as some of these other changes are also needed and hopefully they drive attendance as projected. The the increased revenue they should be able to add more flats down the road. Remember this $50 million 3 year expansion project is still being dubbed as 'phase 1' and the plan is still fluid as all the specifics have not been worked out and some of the details are subject to change. The new water slides, new coaster, and Festhaus seem to be the only certain things right now.

Additionally, at some point for this expansion, the front gate will be closed temporarily for the new up-fit. During that time, the south gate will be used as the primary access to the park. After the new front gate opens, the south gate will be removed.

Are you sure thats going to happen?

I'd much rather see them re-route the Southern Enterance to Boomerang Bay, preferably through the underbelly of Thunder Road, with attractions on both sides of the coaster, similar to KD's Rebel Yell's division of the Water Park.

Any idea when the Main Gate will be spiced up? 2014, 2015, 2016??

Well, I dont want to start a he said / she said / the lemonade stand guy said argument. BUT, myslef and Arby were both in attendance at the Q&A yesterday ( as well as a bunch of others that frequent here). Unless the plans drastically change, you can pretty much take the above posts to the bank. 2014/2015 will be BIG years for Carowinds! And thats just the FIRST phase!

Heres a sugggestion, dont take offense to everything. Bart Kinzel(park's gm) apparently made statement sometime about trees blocking the view of rides and coasters. I agree more shade is needed, but trees take years to grow.

I don't know that it was Bart directly. From what I got from a long term full-time employee recently, the old upper management of Cedar Fair was behind the tree clearing. The new CF upper management thinks Carowinds needs more shade. It will take time but I think we'll start seeing more trees and shade in the park.

Speaking of trees, you kids should have been in the park when it opened back in the 70's. All the trees were little saplings and there was no shade. That was the biggest compliant about the park back then; asphalt, concrete, in the blistering heat. It's funny to hear my older friend talk about there not being any shade in the park. These same folk have not been in 25 years either and missed the fact that all those little saplings eventually grew up and created a canopy.

I have noticed that ever since cedar fair got the park that the amount of trees has decreased.I agree that cedar fair will probably try to plant more trees over the next few years.
