A few other words were said at C3 about paint that I think I heard correctly, probably safe to share:
Afterburn still sports the original '99 paint job, which presumably would have lasted even longer had it been applied within six months after fab and primer for best results, but the parts might have sat up at the plant longer than that before application.
However, it was (and remains) a priority under the current staff to transform the overall color in the park from the drab gray and earth tones it inherited to the brighter, happier, more visually striking color palette you see today. An analogy was made: if you were to visit a hospital with the best doctors, equipment, staff and success record, but noticed the paint peeling on the walls, it wouldn't leave the correct impression. The park prides themselves on maintenance well above industry standards, and feels that should be reflected in appearance as well. As for the currently planned paint scheme, well…
