General Carowinds discussion

TODAY (4/24)!!!!! After a cancelled first trip, I managed to get to Carowinds and get Assimilated. As many of you have said, "the Borg" (as I heard many park attendants refer to it as) is extremely well integrated. The Borg sphere looked awesome, and the TV's playing a Borg episode of Star Trek was a stroke of genius! Also, I loved walking around the coaster and hearing that creepy voice say "Embrace Perfection" or "Join Us", etc! The Borg was running two trains to my surprise, and seemed to be doing pretty good until it broke down at like 6:50 in the afternoon.
When I finally did manage to make it on (after about an hour wait)..........well, I just have one word to describe the whole exprience: INTENSE!!! Intense from start to finish! As soon as we flipped over and I saw the ground below I (and all my friends) started SCREAMING! LOL! But overall, I loved it. Especially the loop.......the loop was AWESOME! Top Gun is still very good, and really I think Top Gun and Borg are equal in excitement. I would say that the Borg is better b/c it's scary, but that's really just a temporary thing......I know that after a few rides I'll be able to ride it with a just a smile on my face.....just like I can with Top Gun! :D

It is good to hear that you had a good time there Mister Hombaca. I'm always interested in hearing other people's input about the park, particularly The Borg. I noticed today that they've slowed down the lift hill considerably and that both trains are now just about as noisy as that one train was on opening day. Just before it crests, it speeds up a little. When asked why this was the case, it was said that maintenance wanted one train to be ascending the lift as the other train was unloading in the station. Supposedly this helps something, but to me it seems pointless.

I think the slow lift is that way so that the second train (on the lift) doesn't have to lie on their backs on the brake run while the first train (in the station) is getting loaded. That makes a lot of sense to me because waiting on the brake run is NOT fun..... (Jason Wilson..... Evac'd from the brake run at 6:50) :)

I finally got to Carowinds today to ride the Borg!!!!!!!!!!! It was incredible, it was a lot more intense than i expected it to be especially the loop. I loved every minute of it!

Well, about the brake run, I was expecting to have to wait like 5 minutes for the other train, but I was surprised when I only had to wait for like 30 seconds. The borg crew must be top noch.

I was in row 6 and when the lift speeded up I thought the front of the train had crested the hill. It wasn't untill I watched the borg afterwards that I noticed that it was because the chain was speeding up.

I think TG continues to be exciting while the borg will get slightly boring after a while. By the end of this season everybody will say TG is better than borg. IMO, after the loop the borg is kinda boring, while TG provides an exciting ride all the way through.

I can say it is one of the most intense rides that I ever been on. I've been assimulated 4 times already and I loved it. If it wasn't so much of a wait I will ride it all day :D ( with a few rides on Top Gun, Thunder Road, Vortex, Hurler, Some flats at least 4 times). :D

Not good to keep track of how many times you've been on a ride? I am so mad at myself that I lost track of my rides on TG at 20! I think I've ridden it around 250 times but I'll never be sure (it was more impressive after the first season when I had ridden it 100 times)! I have ridden the borg twice and from now on I'll keep track. They should sell a shirt that's white and says I have been assimilated this many times: You would then put a dash on the shirt with a supplied fabric marker every time you ride borg.
