That was fast......... by opening day we should have a good idea of what the coaster name will be. Hopefully the park puts up teaser signs. If they appear to be a roman theme, Centurion will no doubt be the name.

I would like to see with the expansion the actual season extended, being that winter really doesnt kick in until maybe late December. It was like 74 degrees today they could close at 6 or 7pm. I don't see why not when dollywood and Busch Gardens are open through January both in snow states.

Busch Gardens is only open from late Nov to early Jan because they have Christmas Town....I dont know about Dollywood though...

I know for sure Dollywood has a Christmas event. In fact, it was voted the #1 Christmas event by amusement today. I would like to see Carowinds get a christmas event. I even wrote some ideas in an thread here: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3958
Maybe the park has more maintainence than other parks? It could be a staff problem. Many people who work at Carowinds are students and school is back up again. I don't know, I've never worked at the park.

I do remember Carowinds having winterfest 1yr and I def didn't workout. There weren't many rides open which was a great negative, the Christmas parade and a Christmas show in the theater. Attendance was very low and I was working there at that time. They never gave it a chance flourish; it was just one yr and they were over it. A few modifications to the event and a bit more marketing I think it would've worked out but I digress since its been discussed lol.

I worked winterfest. It was actually decent but it just didn't live up to what everything should of been. I mean there was only a few rides. Plus you had Afterburn running. Talk about freeze your butt off. You did get to see a different side of the park. I still don't think it would work unless they did it big. I don't mean all the rides open I mean make it like the largest Christmas lights out there or something of that nature.

I worked Carousel and Haunted Mansion. It was slow at first but picked up around Chrisrmas. Carowinds had already sold tickets for Winterfest 2006 but Cedar Fair cancelled it. They should have opened more of Nick Central and not opened Afterburn. It was too cold for Afterburn. Scrambler lived up to its name during Winterfest, if they would have kept thebname, they should have enclosed it and done more effects. What dept did you work?

Also, the cornhole tournament is today. If anyone is planning on going down to the park, could you get more pictures of the Skyflyer Arch?

So as of this morning, neither web cam is working...

I think the park should build a lodge style hotel (small) that families can go to over the winter. The hotel would be in Camp Wilderness. The lodge has an indoor waterpark in it with maybe 5 or 6 slides. There is a restaurant that has live entertainment. There is a Triotech XD theater and an arcade. There is a smaller version of River Battle at Dollywood. Basically a mini-Great Wolf Lodge/Castaway Bay. That way, people can visit the park in the winter. It would also be cool if the waterpark was free with Gold/Platinum passes until the end of the year (December 31). Hopefully the new expansion does make Carowinds a destination park, so that we can get a hotel.

Also, if anyone read my comment about a nascar-style restaurant in front of Intimidator, I am wrong. I remember screamscape saying something about a "Famous Dave's BBQ" restaurant or something. Also, the restaurant would be attached to the hotel that Carowinds is planning. According to screamscape spies, the hotel would be by the freeway (which in my opinion is a terrible idea with all that traffic noise while you are trying to sleep). Oh well. Plans can always change.
