General Carowinds discussion

I don't think I'll get a pass this year. I probably won't be in the Charlotte area as much this summer as the previous three years, and my aunt is moving (she used to live 2 miles from the park, so we would stay there). I will DEFINITELY go at least once in 2015, though.

Hurler is amazing, I was disappointed none of the new the new restaurants were open. Those TVs will get old fast, intimidators are very loud. Afterburn and Ricochet were sporting their new paint jobs well. Ripcord makes the front of the park feel a little crowded to me. Rode the intimidator for the 200th time today and met Deangelo Williams, did anyone else see him? All in all a great day at the park considering how it was not busy at all.

For a first day it was really slow. I noticed the following changes:

-Carowinds TV, I saw them in Afterburn, Vortex, Nighthawk, and Intimidator's lines. Very cool addition.
-The Corndog stand in the boardwalk now sells funnel cakes.
-Chic-fil-a has replaced country kitchen, now painted brown.
-Auntie Annes brought minimal changes to the former plaza funnel cake.
-The former Chic-fil-a was gutted completely and will become Funnel Cake Emporium
-Paradise Treats is now Dockside Fries
-Surfer Joes got a blue and teal paint job, with new signage.
-The Mini-Golf hut has been removed and replaced with a small store named One Stop Shop
-Planet Snoopy received a new game in front of the Balloons
-The Carousel and Snoopy's Junction were closed. Most of the horses were leaning against the fence around the ride.
-Harmony Hall Marketplace is HUGE.
-From what i could see while on the Hurler there appear to be holes, on the go kart track, and in the sky coaster area.
-The Snoopy Starlight lights that were on the trees have been removed.
-Buses are indeed parking in the former season pass holder lot.
-Pieces of Dorsal Fin Drop and Surfer Swell are in the Thunder Road lot. Just a muddy pit where the slides are supposed to be in just under 2 months.
-The building in front of Ripcord is in its third form, originally it was a Nickelodeon Central game, then a Planet Snoopy shop, and now a shop in the front, and suit up zone in the back.
-The Planet Snoopy sign was moved back to a planter near Flying Ace.
-The former meet and greet building is now gone to make way for the Ripcord.
-The tree that once sat in the middle of the midway near the Dinosaurs Alive! entrance was removed, pavers now reach the Snoopy's Starlight arch near Afterburn.
-Some trees in the Carolina Showplace plaza were removed and replaced with little trees. That area isn't going to be so nice come summer time.

Good summary Trojan!

One thing to add is that Harmony Hall Marketplace will indeed have a stage and performances. (I don't think we knew that.) It was listed on a show schedule sign right outside the park.

Also here's a photo of Ripcord in all it's newly-found glory! I saw quite a few people on it considering how light the crowd was. As I predicted, the location will really make it more popular!!

Opening day was fantastic! I was really happy the rain decided not to show up! Had an awesome time at the park. Looks like the go-karts are going bye bye as well, wasn't sure if they would keep them or not... I guess its still possible they keep them but it just looks to me like they will be ripped out. Intimidator was running incredible, and I see a lot of you brought up the TVs, I didn't even wait in a line long enough to even see what they showed, every time I saw one it was showing weather and I didn't hear any sound... ha. Intimidator didn't have a line at all so..... and nothing else did either. I am loving the new location of RIPCORD and they were letting the employee ride to kind of "advertise" I guess which was cool, I need that job.... Sucks that the price is back up to $25 it was $15 before... right?.... Richochets new paint scheme was pretty nice. Afterburn looks very very nice with its new paint job, so much better than before. I wish they would have at least cleaned up the trains a little more or replaced the shark and "maverick" cover panel things. I would love to see new retraints as well, I know I have mentioned that before and a lot of others have too. All in all great day at the park, the new parking was definitely interesting, when we were leaving it was a little confusing, I guess you're supposed to go down and then out, we just cut through some widely spaced cones  I can see that getting very hectic if they don't do some sort of labeling before the large crowds hit..... Cant wait to go back to the park with my kids and see how they like everything. Looks like harmony hall is coming along quickly... looks like it will be done by June since the shows are scheduled for June..

It was worse than Thunder Road. I was so upset. Intimidator will be getting seat belts. Cobra got them already. Intimidator will be getting them tomorrow :(.

Care to name a source for this seatbelt information? I highly doubt they'd slap these on overnight for the second day of operation.

I was there today and talked to one of ride operators about it. He said they would have them on next week...

Hurlers first turn is nice! the rest of the ride not so much....

Been lurking for a while thought I would join in on the fun. ha.

How is a seat belt going to be install on that type of train with those type of seats and lapbars? Unless they replace the seat?

Also, After 3 years now, why all sudden?

Plus, this would not be a state requiredment because the state would not of issues a permit to operate the ride if such item(s) was needed for the safety of guests.

So with that, I'm really questioning this.
