OK I created this poll because I want to see what everyone would think. These are things that we as Ride Ops have to deal with everyday. You'd be suprised the reactions we get.

Let em' ride. If they're dying to ride it then I would say ok and if anyone asked then I would just say that the person just made the minimum requirement.

While my heart would say let them ride, I don't think there is any choice here but to say no. Yes, we all know that 1/4 of an inch will likely make no difference whatsoever, but if something were to happen then the park and the operator would be easily held responsible if the rules were bent.

I wouldn't let them ride. In this day and age of coaster mishaps and accidents, its better to be safe than sorry.

What the heck you must want the park or whatever to be sued and then lose its popularity if they are not the height they cant ride simple as that

I would let them ride to. I remember on the cyclone my cousin was like right on the line and one man let her ride it like 3 times in a row. We returned later in the afternoon and this other woman wouldnt let her ride. She said she was to small. I dont think 1/4 of an inch would make a diff. If it was a girl id just be like put your hair in a ponytail and maybe that would raise her height a little.

If I had to be a ride operator at Carowinds I would just feel really sorry for myself! :P

I voted for second opinion. Not to pass the buck, but to check again to make sure they were indeed 1/4" too short. It's not too uncommon to see them measure a bit wrong and be just a little off. Now, if they check them again with the more accurate measuring tool, like the one near the op station on Top Gun, and they still are too short - no ride, period.

I guarantee the parents I've seen screaming bloody murder at the ride ops for not letting their kids ride when they're 1/2" short would be the first ones yelling to sue the park if the children had any kind of incident. They'd probably also disavow any responsibility for it, saying "Even though I wanted them to ride, the operators should know better and shouldn't let them on" - ignoring that they cursed the ride op out for trying just that.

I would let them ride because if they are more tan a 1/4 more away from the requiered height because of safty reasons I care to much of people but I think it would do much damage to the a person so close to the height r..

Man not many here understand the type of stuff we have to go through with angry people not understanding the height and trying to get them on no matter what the cost so we dont let them ride because if a problem does occur whats happens to us we get the blame for it!!!

Well, since they are LESS than 1/4 away from the proper height, I would let them ride. If they were 1/4 away, I would ask for a 2nd opionion. It's really hard to get an acurate measure of a dead body thats been mutalated after falling 50' from a coaster...

I vote for 2nd opionion.

Plain and simple they do not ride.
Altho I hate it and want them to ride it really gets my goat to see parents bring thier child all the way up in line just to get turned down at the stall. Every ride has a hieght limit and is posted at the front of each ride so all can see and use but Parents try to sneak their child on anyway. If, for some reason that sneaked on kid would get tossed out like Superman last weekend then they would be the first to blame the park and the ops and take them to court.
Safety first, stupidity last!!!

I think all the yes and no's have to do with the age limits here. As i see all the yes belong to kids and most the no's belong to well..........mature, and i use the word lightly people. We know that theres a reason for a high requirement but some people have the it will never happen to me take on stuff and think they can bend the rules of their just a wee bit shorter than the requirements. The kids are in the i want stage in life. (im not gonna go into the Id, ego, and super ego!!) ANd they tend to think i wanna do whatever w/o even considering the outcome of it. So i wouldnt say no you couldnt ride, i would say H#LL nah you cant ride!!!

Besides.........picture this......you want to buy a program for your pc. It says the min. requirement was 13.3 GB but you only have 13.0, would you buy it??

I agree that the Measuring Ruler at Top Gun is the most accurate way to determine if they are tall enough or not. It has been my 2nd opinion a lot of Times. Sometimes I may ask someone else to help me Spot. Mostly I have them Looking at the Feet (Tippy Toes can add about 1/2inch or more) I don’t know if they are on others Coasters, but it has sure helped a lot of Ride Ops at Top Gun. I have heard Many Guests Say “Ahwwww Come on let them Ride.” Or “It’s just an 8th of an Inch.” We only do this for Safety. It is our Top Priority. Carowinds has not had an incident since I have been there and I would like to keep it that way.

Now I am no way Complaining about my Job at all. I love everything that I do. The 2 seasons I was not working at the Park I felt Empty. This job I have sooo much Fun. If only I got Paid more I may make this my full Time job, but it’s unfortunate It can’t pay the Bills. This is probably the only thing that gets to me. It is being accused for ruining their Childs day because they can’t ride over ¼ inches. Once I was cursed out because their child was over 2inches to small. He cursed me out in some language that I didn’t even know. It didn’t even bother me. As a matter of fact I laughed it off.
