General Carowinds discussion

Even if it is an exact Leviathan clone, it will still be a destination attraction. Because there are not very many 300ft giga coasters in this country, nor in the world for that matter. But hopefully if it is a Leviathan style it will add some new elements such as more hills or inversions. Or something to differentiate, perhaps a figure 8.

I don't think that this will be an almost clone to Leviathan. It will probably be similar to Leviathan as Intimidator is to Behemoth and Diamondback. One thing I'm really hoping for is a tunnel at the bottom of the drop like Leviathan, but underground. 2015 should be a good year!

I was at the park yesterday and I saw tractors and other construction vehicles in the alley behind Papa Luigi's, which is also behind the Palladium.

I don't know what is actually going on back there, but is there a slight possibility they are preparing the ground back there for footers for the coaster? It would make sense if the ride did somehow make it under the bridge and follow the alley back to the area where the station is probably gonna go (Where the go-karts are).

Even if they did buy it, the height of next year's coaster has already been confirmed at 300+ feet. Which Time Machine is not.

That seems a bit doubtful, however...

I wouldn't hate to see Time Machine moved to Carowinds. I've heard its a little rough, but as far as Coasters are concerned, it's the more, the merrier for me. There's no big, sit-down looper at the park and I can't say I'd be upset with Cedar Fair if they chose to go that route.

Regardless, the Giga next year is hopefully gonna blow us away. Basically, we've already won. Anything extra (regarding Coasters) in the immediate future, like one or two years later, is just icing on the cake.

BTW:

^ Time Machine is still listed For Sale. That could mean A) Cedar Fair didn't get it, B) maybe the page wasn't updated since the alleged purchase, C) nothing at all.

EDIT: seems Chris already noted that last point :p

Good stuff Mark.

Most interesting to me, even though we've heard it before-

$30 million roller coaster
$2.5 million water slide
$7 million food complex
$4 million ticket booth and parking field improvements

$33.1 million for Mecklenburg County, $10.4 million for York County.

And then safety bickering back and forth. Ugh.

One guy saying they "need to paint the place." I'm not sure if he's been in a few years..

Also talked about South Carolina needing "do their part" with infrastructure improvements with Carowinds Blvd and the on/off ramps to I-77. I couldn't agree more.

An interesting read. Our government at work.
