General Carowinds discussion

I'm really hoping Fair is ready to move past that, especially with the new management. Somebody in the US is going to top MF soon. If Fair wishes to retain that record as a company, now is the time to do it considering they are likely building a new Giga at Carowinds, and it they will only need to go a few more feet upward. 320 seems like a good number to me.

coasterfreak wrote:You are very right tyler, according to Roller Coaster Database, http://rcdb.com/rhr.htm?m=1&l=59 Millennium Force and I-305 are the only two 'traditional lift' coasters that hit the 300 foot mark. So simply outdoing Millennium's height by a foot or two would make out giga the tallest Giga coaster in not only the US, but in North America. If it hit 320, it would be the tallest giga in the world!! THAT is a destination coaster!

-World's Longest Coaster: They could go for the world's longest coaster but to beat Steel Dragon's 8,133 feet this ride would cost WAYYYYY more than $30m. Leviathan isn't even in the Top 10 and it cost $28m.

Yes, but you must take into consideration that SD2000 was built in Japan, and was specially made to withstand earthquakes and typhoons and whatever other natural disasters happen there. I do highly doubt that it would be the longest coaster in the world, though.

It will indeed be interesting to see if they decide to top Millenium Force in height, or if it turns out to be around 305 or 306 ft.

They could go for the "World's Longest Coaster of it's kind" record. Kinda how Dollywood still touts Wild Eagle as the first coaster of it's kind in the US. Even though wing coasters existed, they weren't by B&M, lol.

Interesting that Intamin is cheaper than B&M.......I did not know this.........

But if you look at MF............As an example, say MF and Leviathan were the same length for the sake of this example......

It actually looks like MF would have more metal, just the way the supports are designed. They look like those electricity towers you see going through fields.....

I also can't BELIEVE I never realized this until JUST NOW.......Carowinds Intimidator is LONGER than I 305, and so is Leviathan. It look like CF made sure to make Leviathan just a WEE bit longer than Behemoth.....so you're probably right........it will be longer than Intimadator , but not my much, and probably 1 foot higher than Leviathan.

Is Intamin cheaper? Carowinds' Intimidator was $23 million while Intimidator-305 was $25 million. I-305 is obviously taller but it has a lot of low to the ground parts and the Carowinds ride is a bit longer.

Millennium Force would be around $31.6 million in 2010 dollars. $34.3 million in 2014 dollars.
