General Carowinds discussion
#55862
Preliminary foundation work has begun. Jay provided photos recently of markings that are apparently for coaster footers. Figuring out where footers are really going compared to where they are on paper is preliminary foundation work just as expected.

Previous discussion anticipated that actual clearing and digging wouldn't begin until June with real footer work being obvious in July. We expect that the announcement should be sometime in August.

Remember that we're all just guessing based on how the park has previously done things. Most, if any of us, have no real idea of the timeline and are just sitting back enjoying the fun and anticipation.

My 2 cents is that the park is focusing all their resources on getting all the existing construction done by Memorial Day or early June at the latest. Once all of that is done, we'll start seeing real progress on the new coaster and the front entrance work.

I would think our Intimidator would be a better timeline indicator. The two coaster are not really that much different, construction wise.

Leviathan is likely to have a longer construction timeline because of several factors.
1)Longer, colder winter.
2)Dragon Fire stayed in operation for most if not all of the season.
3)Doesn't actually go in the parking lot?

From July 2013.

If there is any truth to these plans i would think they have to have a good amount of the entrance work done ( ie. the new toll plaza ect. ) before all of the footers could go in...or maybe im just looking at it wrong

We (as in people on CW Mania, fansite for Wonderland) we never able to pinpoint exactly when construction began but land clearing was already being done when the park opened at the beginning of May.

True, but considering most coasters (and by most I mean all) that are 300 ft+ have speeds of 90 mph+. They do their thing with their own forces (whether it be air time, s-curves or both). One cannot look at the forces for one inversion, they have to consider the forces the rider goes through for the entire ride duration. That said, a wing over drop is a cop out.
