General Carowinds discussion

Many times on CC I see about what the NBT is going to be. I always wonder if that 50 Million dollar expansion will include an expansion or new rides to PS. (Planet snoopy)

Often I find myself on a regular basis going and hanging out in PS for a little bit. The gliders bring back my childhood and Woodstock Express is a great little woodie.

So what upgrades or renovations do you think PS should receive?

I was hoping with the removal of the train that they would place a pipe scream like at Cedar Point.

The train isn't being removed, they started re-doing the railroad bed very recently, and should be open any day now, albeit at a much shorter length.

IMO, Snoopy is pretty landlocked, surrounded by Intimidator and Dinosaur's Alive. The solution is simple.. get rid of Dinosaurs Alive and you have an amazing new area for the kids to play in, if it's used correctly. I posted an elaborate plan in the wishlist thread, well before this expansion was even thought of.. let's see if I can dig it up.

Now looking back on yesterday I did notice the small layout that that the train will run on. Thanks Jay

Personally I would like to see the train expanded back out to it's Dora length and the the theater enclosed or a new one built. Hopefully once DA is removed Planet Snoopy will grow back towards it's Nick Central size.

Hilarious post from that thread:

The way I see it, Carowinds got lucky and slipped through the cracks when it comes to dinosaurs alive. Looking back on 2012 expansions in cedarfair, I'm surprised we didn't get it. And I've got a sick feeling that we might get it for 2013, I'm crossing my fingers that we don't though. But what shocks me, is that Cedarfair probably knows that not many people like it, yet they still add it, Does anyone remember the angry mob on Cedar Point's facebook page when they found out that they got dinosaurs alive. Carowinds got very lucky this year, but I'm not so sure about 2013.

Jonathan... please don't remind me of how stupid I was when I first joined. I'm still trying to get over the embarrassment of when I kept swearing that Banshee was going to be a giga. Just keep in mind, I was 11 when I made that post about Dinosaurs Alive.

I didn't think it was a stupid post at all, in fact your "sick feeling" turned out to be right. I just found it funny that it did end up happening for 2013.

The dinosaurs exhibit at the NC Zoo in Asheboro was a 2-year contract. It closed at the end of October 2013. This year there is a bugs exhibit by the same company (Billings) in its place, and no word on if that is a 1-year or 2-year contract.

For minimal upkeep and upfront cost, I'm sure DA has proven to be a great investment. Obviously if there were a more lucrative use if that land (and eventually there probably will be) they'd be using it for something different.

Businesses making money are doing something right...

I would tend to agree with you if it weren't for that stupid putt putt course taking up space in our park. Hard to believe it's making any money.
