What existing ride at Carowinds had 8 owners?

A ride that every Carowinds fan should value as an asset is it's carousel. Not many people know the circle of life this beauty went through before making its way to Carowinds. It had quite a string of owners before coming to Carowinds in 1979. When Taft bought it from owner #7 in 1973, an uprise to prevent its move had begun by local citizens in Evansville, Indiana. Makes me wonder what we would've wound up with had this carousel stayed in Indiana. So, the next time you pass by this vintage piece of moving art, stop for a moment and think about it's prior life and thank Cedar Fair for the wonderful restoration work done to the ride this past winter.

Totally agree. I did just that the last time I took my oldest nephew to the park. We stopped and read the plaque in front of the ride. I also told him that when we start to travel to different parks soon, considering we will be traveling to history infused PA, that we will also read about the history of each park and we will always take the time, and respect, to ride the carousel no matter how old we are.

How ironic you brought this up as just yesterday my company had a cookout and a Dunking Booth for our CEO. (9 balls = 8 dunks from me. lol)

Everyone there knows how I like the industry and were trying to get an update on Carowinds as we have a trip planned later this season. When I started talking about the fact we are getting something special that no one around here has seen for 2015 most said they would stick with the Carousel and the grandkids. So, I gave them an abbreviated version of its history and how scary its future was when Paramount had it, from an historical view. So yea, thanks C.F.

Ya know, relocating the Carousel to Carowinds Plaza with a new pavilion would leave the existing one open for that idea. Planet Snoopy could use a covered seating area and additional restrooms.
