General Carowinds discussion

I guess my quote isn't going to include the pic of Outlaw Run. :(

I rode Outlaw Run last year about a month after it opened. It's definitely a different ride. The first drop is awesome and the looping segment is cool. But the ride has its problems for sure. It's not long enough (IMO) and it's incredibly notorious about going down. Carowinds doesn't need another woodie right now. I would love to see more flat rides, though! And a dark ride. And a wing coaster. Oh, and our new giga coaster. :)

Yeah I know that, I was talking about the individual side names, turns out the one on the cover is the South Carolina side too!

I've always heard the blue side called the NC side. And I prefer it. The other side is rough, imo. It tore a guys shirt off literally a couple seasons back. The restraints kept getting tighter and tighter until the last hill and BAM! Shredded Carolina Panthers tee.

See, the left (going up the lift) says NC, the right is SC. So I guess that's where all the confusion lies, as the other way around it says the opposite:

I think they should get rid of the action theater and the yoyo to put a wing coaster that goes through a bunch of tunnels kinda like gatekeeper... they should also make it go through some really dark tunnels.

I wish you guys would stop with this wing coaster nonsense. Granted, I've only ridden one, (Dollywoods) and thought the restraints were very uncomfortable, way too much vibration in the seats, just not a fun ride. Like stand-up coasters, hopefully these are just a fad that will soon die out.

I wouldn't be against getting one, but I don't get the hype either. Its cool but not a must-have.

I want a nice, smooth, new woodie or even an inverting woodie! But the one thing we must get soon is a launched coaster. That's something the park doesn't have at all.

Thanks for reminding me of that Wormy. Our State actually contacted me several months ago via my Early Years website. Said they wanted to use a bunch of my photos for this article. I've learned my lesson from a past experience with Our State when they did a story on Lakewood Park. The author was a real jerk. Did not give me credit for the photos I sent him. Said they were from "his" collection. He even worded some of his paragraphs verbatim directly from my website. These authors are only in it for themselves. Same thing happened with another magazine some 7-8 years ago. So, I declined their offer to send them photos for this issue.

Swampie I should have known you would have been contacted or involved somehow. I wouldn’t have known about it if the cover wasn’t featured on Carolina Camera. I didn’t see the article yet, and now I’m almost sorry I posted it if that’s how they are. That sucks.

Really Wild Eagle is my favorite coaster. I guess it just shows how different people are.

Gatekeeper wasn't much different, gave me a few headaches to be honest. I'm making a trip up to Dollywood next week, (and most likely a trip report to go along with it). I'll be sure to remember your opinion of Wild Eagle, though I'll most likely ride it just to say I did.

I wasn't impressed with Wild Eagle, was slow and boring. Gatekeeper was alot better.

Off topic, sort of: I have a video I recorded of Jameis Winston (Florida State quarterback) doing the 'MC Hammer dance' on my YouTube account. I was contacted by ESPN last fall, asking me if they could use the video on their ESPN College Gameday show on Saturday morning and if they could use it, what name would I like them to use as the credit. I gave them my name and watched with anticipation as they showed my video with zero credit. Not even the white letters in the corner saying, 'YouTube account: xxxxxxx". I made sure to catch the ending credits as well and sure enough, no mention. It really shocked me. Why even ask at that point?

No, no don't get me wrong Wormy. I'm glad you posted it. Our State is a nice magazine. But many of their stories are written by freelance writers, and some are just less tactful than others. That's not saying the lady that contacted me would've been that way. I just didn't want to give her the pleasure in case she was, lol. Heck, I'll more than likely buy this addition just to add to my collection.
