Has anyone noticed the swarm of wasps at the top of Drop Tower? I was actually stung on one of my rides on Monday. No one even received a warning upon boarding the ride. Is there any reason for there being so many wasps at the top? Someone beside me was freaking out because they have bee allegies. It was probably the only time I was telling the ride "Drop us now please". This really takes away from the ride experience and the fun factor overall, and I'm not speaking of a few insects, there were at least 100 all around us.

I know that, but I haven't seen it this bad in years. It actually takes away from the fun of the ride if not all of it.

That doesn't make it OK. They seriously need to take care of this. It doesn't bother me one bit but as seen here, people are allergic and it could result in death. Haven't you ever seen "My Girl"?

I'm betting the only way they deal with it is to close Drop Tower until they've calmed down. Dollywood does it for bees at Wild Eagle (I think).

I chuckle at the end of My Girl. Ok.. I hate the actor ok? Also... the wasps just add to the thrill factor of the drop zone. You survived!

I guess the cat's out of the bag. Drop Zone is being renamed Fury 325. For there will be 325 wasps at the top to make you furious.

I've been lucky on Drop Tower in the past and have always avoided the wasps. Correct me if I'm wrong but weren't the tunnels on Thunder Road, and Cyclone removed because of similar bee/wasp problems?

I overcame my fear of the drop tower last night (I've ridden it before but never liked it) but I saw no wasp nest (nor did I want to see any)

Well obviously they are gone, until the opening of Wasps Fury 325 (in which of course drop tower is being rebuilt to 325 feet and just like Falcons Fury you can now fall 300 feet with wasps around you, which will cause some fury and controversy). But in all seriousness I hope they are gone forever.

I believe Carowinds has fixed the issue as when gabed and I went to Carowinds shortly before the fourth we rode drop tower at least 6 or 7 times and never saw any wasps.
