Whatever. I love Thunder Road, but eventually it won't be in the park, so 20 or 40 years down the line I can see this RMC thing happening.... but not now. Its fine and is a historic piece of Carowonds that needs to remain. I say they continue to rehab it and paint it white and allow it to keep making memories.

Misquoting is a staple on this page. Hmmmmm. It was a great woodie. But things change. Its not great anymore. Not for the past 25 years. I hate to see it go too and it probably wont because the crusaders want it but the gp want better. I would hate to see it go but it doesnt need RMC, we need a custom destination woodie. TR is a clone, no remake of it

The GP wants Thunder Road to stay. When they posted a pic of TR on the cover of tha state magazine on facebook it was nothing but great comments about how they all love Thunder Road and don't want it to go anywhere, at leasts that's what I saw.

Nobody rides Thunder Road because it is insane, crazy, or exciting. The GP rides TR because it was there first big roller coaster as a kid and they want to make the same memories with their own families and have fun while doing it. In my opinion TR is just a fun coaster, that should stay for another 30 years.

Thunder Road became a waste of space as soon as they stopped racing it and both trains went forwards. It needs to go unless they race it again (with a real timer!) and turn one of the trains around. It's not going to happen, so I would much rather have a better wooden coaster replace it. Nothing is exciting about TR after the turnaround.

Thunder Road was never meant to go backwards in the first place. I think turning the train backwards was against the park's insurance or something so they went forward when cedar took over. As far as I know, when I ride on the weekends we're always racing, during the week only one side is open due to light crowds. Thunder Road rides well to me just until you hit that last section into the tunnel to the brake run. I just hope the redo that part too and the coaster will just fine.

I'm glass y'all don't run Kennywood otherwise their three amazing woodies would be long gone.

As for why the ride no longer goes backwards, pretty sure that was a mod to the trains that PTC didn't approve of and CF chose to follow the mfg's instructions.

To be fair its just me and one other person I believe. I appreciate its history, I'd keep it 2 more decades compared to hurler. Staying in the past will blind you from whats going on in the present. Cyclone anybody? Should it stay or go?

Still a good ride towards the back. But I'm the minority of making progress for our park. Cant believe more people that thought the go karts were historic. Lets save everything and change nothing. Seems realistic

Or maybe I'm trying to pave a way for the future. Not trying to overhaul Carowinds, just realizing there is a wave for the future. I still loved the RFD Log Flume, but Intimidator needed to happen to make Carowinds what it is today. Mockery is flattering but unclever. I see the future and love the direction. Its apparent that most here dont.

Paving the way for the future dpesnt mean paving over what you already have. The fluke did NOT have toeave for intimidator...but they seemed to have been dead set on that plot of land. Harmony hall and chicks & pete are the right steps in what I woe love to see for the park. An air conditioned museum would be nice!

Brushters Ice Cream. Never trust the bushwacker guy. Flume had to go for Dator guy. Give me better competition than this guy who I made crying to jonathan to kick me out. Anyways, things need removed to have your launch coaster.

Since we are 99.9999% sure that we are getting a giga next year, we probably won't get a big new coaster for another 4-5 years. Still, Cedar Fair has shown that they want to make Carowinds a destination park, so I think getting 2 big coasters in the next 9-10 years is pretty likely. First, the park obviously needs a GOOD launch coaster. I could see Carowinds getting something similar to Xcelerator or Stealth, but I'd prefer something unique, but along the lines of Blue Fire or Maverick. I am pretty confident that one of our next big coasters will be launch, but the other big coaster could be anything. Floorless, Wingrider, Dive Machine, or a woodie. I would love to see either a GCI or Intamin woodie added to the park and replace Hurler. Look at Magic Mountain. They took out Psyclone and replaced it with Apocalypse, a much better GCI woodie. Hurler is not very popular, but a woodie like El Toro or Goldstriker would be great for the park. Think about how amazing our lineup would be with those two coasters: 1. Fury 325/Giga 2. Launch Coaster 3. Intimidator 4. Good Woodie 5. Afterburn. That lineup would easily beat every other park in the Southeast, regardless of what all the other parks put in. And most importantly, I hope that in between the coasters we get a good flat or dark ride each year and water park expansions. I would love a top spin, giant frisbee, screamin swing, better drop tower, dark ride, and a good water slide tower with an Aqua Loop or something. A water ride wouldn't hurt either. That's my best-case scenario for the park. Worst-case, Cedar Fair thinks that adding a giga is enough for a while, and we don't get anything big for another decade.

Anyway, I've noticed that a lot of you have been suggesting that the park should remove coasters. Personally, the only coasters I think should be changed or removed are Hurler and Vortex. I really hope we keep TR, I personally think it's a really fun and iconic ride. The park wouldn't be the same without it. However, I'd be fine if Hurler was removed and replaced with flats or a good woodie.

Now, on to Vortex. And please bear with me here, I know my ideas are a little out there. I could definitely see Vortex being shipped off to a smaller park. It would much more valuable at a smaller Cedar Fair park like MiA or WOF. However, I think Cedar Fair would be better off "changing" Vortex. You could change the trains, as I think floorless or plain sit down trains would be much better. Or they could change the ride altogether. I know this is a little crazy and I will be ridiculed for even suggesting this, but what if they changed Vortex to a Dive Coaster? You could take out the current drop, and have the ride make a 180 degree turn into the holding brake, into a 100 ft or so 90 degree drop. You could even keep the stand-up trains. It could be the first Stand-up Dive Coaster lol. I had this crazy idea a couple days ago and I thought this would be the best thread to share it in. I'd love to hear what you all think of this idea, or if it would even be possible.

Overall, as long as we get a new ride every year or two, I'll be happy. All this giga talk is making me really wonder what Carowinds will look like ten years down the road.
