I'd say so, if you took out the mini golf, (which is pointless), you would definitely have enough room for a new slide. Hint hint... water coaster. Yes, I know, that will probably never happen, but if Carowinds were to build a compact one like Deluge than I think it could work in that area. This is all wishful thinking of course.

Careful, there's at least some who think putt putt is a money maker....

Its kinda funny how disney is making a crap load of money off those "20 year old movies" roller coasters and attractions. Those princess' who are older than you and me manage to get 3+ hour long lines just to get a picture taken with them...

Maybe disney can learn something from cedar fair and fashion their kids area after hip new content...like the peanuts, oh...wait...

That's definitely odd. I remember seeing Bart walking around when Harmony Hall opened. So not even 3 weeks have passed since the switch was made?

EDIT: According to this https://www.dorneypark.com/blog-article ... ike-Fehnel he wasn't even GM at Dorney a full year. This guy must be good?

EDIT2: Here's a video "introducing" him to Dorney.. maybe he'll make a similar one for Carowinds.

From what I gathered from the person I was talking to at the park on Friday, this was so recent that most people at the park didn't know about it, lol. That could be why there isn't a press release yet.

I also got the impression that Cedar Fair is putting together a "dream team" of sorts to help guide the park through the next several years of capital investment. They really are going out there and getting the big guys from the other parks and putting them here. This new GM makes two high profile spots that have been filled by folks who have taken their parks down the same road Carowinds is headed down now. I'm serious when I tell yall that this dream team is focused like a laser on where they want this park to be in the next decade or so. They love the culture that Carowinds has/had and are going to be working hard at making it right. The quote was "What Dollywood is to Tennessee, we want Carowinds to be that for the Carolinas."

And to keep it on topic - I asked about the plans for the plantation house and was informed that changes to that are part of the plan. He laughed and said they had to keep some stuff under wraps for the announcement and he didn't elaborate any further. I believe his statment was something along the lines of "there is SO much more planned for next year that we aren't worried about the stuff that has leaked out."

I'm under the impression that everything will be announced at once with the coaster, but they could hold certain stuff back and announce things all through the winter. Although, with so much construction being visible from outside the park, they will probably want to let all the cats out of the bag to let folks know that the 2015 Carowinds will be like nothing ever seen before.

He wouldn't go into detail about the plantation house area so they could be doing something as simple as removing the turnstiles and widening the entry portals or they could be tearing it down completely. I'd like to think that a complete tear down wouldn't happen based on them loving the culture at the park.

If anything major happens to the plantation house, I'd hope we might be looking at something similar to the entrance at Kings Island. Huge walkway underneath with shops on either side (expanded sides of course) with a restaurant/private whatever above.

Looking at the pic, I could easily see them getting rid of the curved exit areas and expanding a "main street" area between the bridge and the house. Blowing out the bottom middle of the house gives a big entrance "portal" for guest to pass under. I think moving the ticket houses around opens up more room and they could go Cedar Point style with them and move them back into along an area next to the fence to allow for more guests. The approaching walkways on either side will be extended based on the blueprints so who knows what they've got planned. Either way, the Carowinds of 2015 will be like nothing we've ever seen before and that has me at a level of excitement I haven't felt in years!

That is great to hear about the management changes. I think it's a big step forward.

To answer a previous question, the 3 year $50 mil expansion did begin this year with those 2 water slides (no idea on cost) and Harmony Hall and all the food/restaurant changes. From what was leaked previously, those were reportedly about $7 mil of the $50 mil.

^I agree, Jarsh. I would love to see the plantation house turned into what they have at KI. They fed us at an ACE event a few years ago in a room over the gate that overlooked the park fountains, etc. It was great
