General Carowinds discussion
#57494
Looking at the pic, I could easily see them getting rid of the curved exit areas and expanding a "main street" area between the bridge and the house. Blowing out the bottom middle of the house gives a big entrance "portal" for guest to pass under. I think moving the ticket houses around opens up more room and they could go Cedar Point style with them and move them back into along an area next to the fence to allow for more guests. The approaching walkways on either side will be extended based on the blueprints so who knows what they've got planned. Either way, the Carowinds of 2015 will be like nothing we've ever seen before and that has me at a level of excitement I haven't felt in years!

Someone else on here made the suggestion (I forget who) that since the entry area is being pushed out they could build a new gate area (like Cedar Point) and the Plantation House would actually be inside the park as part of a new Main Street kind of area. I think it's a great idea, though that might be a little more ambitious than what the park is planning. I'm excited to find out.

That whole "Rome wasn't built in a day..." saying isn't referring to just 2015. :)

BTW, here is the view from the room over the main entrance of KI to give you an idea of where it is.

I personally would like to see the top floor turned into a Carowinds Museum, though. I guess a VIP room wouldn't be bad, either.

I don't care twhat they do to the Plantation House as long as they preserve the bathroom upstairs in it. That black toilet is so cool looking.

This is a really nice idea, I vote for it. As long as they keep those awesome metal detectors out front. Kinda Centurian in a way...

I am a traditional type person... college sports, holidays, conservative, DONT TOUCH THUNDER ROAD (like some on here want to), ect.

However my opinion, which will be unpopular, is that the Plantation house can go. I appreciate the history and all but after seeing Cedar Point's modern looking new entrance with the big screen and all.... nice!

Having said that I'd still rather the Plantation House stay. My ideal situation is like others have said, build a "main street" type area leading up to the Plantation House, which will be a museum/portal you walk through. Build a big open front gate about where the road is now.

That actually brings up something I was thinking about the other day. I wish they would remove the metal detectors. I think they're a little ridiculous and there are other parks in the chain (including the flagship, Cedar Point) that do not have them. I don't remember Kings Island having them this year either.

At least it's not Six Flags Great Adventure, where I have to take off my belt like I'm at an airport...

I got a full pat down with a drum stick at SFOG when I went for Spring Fling... Even had to turn my pockets inside out and take my hat off and prove that there was nothing hiding under it.

I personally don't mind the metal detectors. I feel with a growing park you must step up your security and safety to ensure a great day for all guest.
I wouldn't want someone to pull out a gun when I'm riding the Intimidator. And in the world we live in, it's quite possible.

Uh - YEA! I agree with you. Way too many crazy people this time we're living in.
