Well it's interesting that terrible things aren't happening at parks all over the country and world since most parks don't have metal detectors. Fear mongering. Simple bag inspections work fine. The rest is for show. Where are metal detectors at public parks? The mall? Rail stations? The movies (where they actually have been mass shootings)?

Not that it's a huge deal either way, but it's a shame people are so afraid of those around them.

I doubt they will remove them, and it's probably something their lawyers recommended, but I really do think it gives the first impression as soon as you arrive that this is a place where someone might try to do something bad. It has negative connotations right off the bat. Meanwhile at Busch Gardens, Cedar Point, Holiday World, Knoebels (which has no gates at all. The horror!), etc you just walk right in (maybe a bag inspection) and it seems so much friendlier and less totalitarian. I'm a big believer though in psychological things that have subtle and subconscious influences on human experiences.

I don't think Disney has them either (someone correct me if I'm wrong) and from a terror perspective what bigger theme park target is there in the world than Disney? But Disney is the absolute master at understanding the psychology of customers and how to influence it, so that's no surprise.

You know what a good deterrent for that kind of violent crime is? A $50 + entry fee, lol.

The metal detectors don't bother me at all, As a dad I feel much more comfortable bringing my kids somewhere that has them.

I don't see why metal detectors are a problem. Makes everyone feel safer, and with how crazy our world is its better to be safe than sorry.

Many parks that I've been to in major metropolitan areas have metal detectors so it's not uncommon.

Does the south desk have metal detectors? Like edwardo touched on, I don't who would pay 50+ dollars and bring weapons in a park! I am more accustom to fla parks lately and they have no detectors at all. Actually, universal has a beg check at the entrance to city walk only (from what I remember) and none st the park entrances. Now, for the halloween events I have seen the fla parks pull out the detectors cause it can get kinda rowdy. But to say you wouldn't feel safe st a park who doesn't have them is a little absurd!
