General Carowinds discussion

That's weird, do they actually plead for their lives during the 'beg check'? That seems pretty funny. I'm going to mess with some people next time I'm in Florida. :D

I think questions like this are what is driving everyone crazy. Have we guessed at what the addition will be so much that we have to resort to questions about how it will get to the park or when it will leave the factory? Not trying to sound like a prick here, but please stop asking dumb questions like this.

For the coaster newbs in the world: B&M track pieces are made in Ohio and shipped via normal flatbed truck to their destination when the park is scheduled to accept it. All other steel coasters coasters (aside from S&S/Arrow) are made overseas and shipped via container on a boat to the closest port to the park where it is then transported via normal flatbed truck to their destination when the park is scheduled to accept it.

There are no crazy rules and regulations regarding shipping coaster track. It's no different that pulling a flatbed full of steel or cars or cotton. I hope this clears up any confusion regarding this coaster (and others) being manfacturered, shipped, erected, etc.

Can we get back to discussing Carowinds 3 year+ expansion now?

I seem to recall them mentioning flat rides at the Charlotte city council meeting (or at least vaguely hinting at one). Since 2014 was the 2 water slides and apparently the $7 mil food/restaurant renovation, does anybody have any guesses as to what they might bring us in 2016 as part of this expansion? I'm assuming there is at least a few million dollars left after all the other work they are doing for a flat or two.

right, but you say that like once the 6.5 million is gone, then that's it? I don't think so. That's why I was confused earlier about the 3 year or 5 year expansion projects. It's not like after 3 or 5 years are over they are just going to STOP spending, NO?

There will probably be a second phase of expansion in 2017-? with another set dollar amount ( much like this project ), with its own set of goodies like rides, flats, and possibly that hotel they have been researching or w/e...but I agree a nice new flat and possibly renovate or completely redo boo blasters is what I would like to see out of the remaining budget.

My guess for the 2016 season is that Country Fair or Carolina Boardwalk will receive the “Gemini Midway” treatment that Cedar Point got this year. A new flat or two, reinstallation of GR8 SK8, and improving the atmosphere of the area.
