General Carowinds discussion

First let me start by saying I don't think we'll ever see Vortex converted. Having said that, I think a conversion on Vortex to sit down trains would be rather easy without many (if any at all) heartline issues. Vortex seems rather simple with its layout and a lot of people know how to manipulate the seats/supports to where they're locked in a semi seating position already.

I personally wouldn't mind parting ways with Rip Roarin' Rapids. I cant even remember the last time I went on Rip Roarin' Rapids. The amount of space it takes up, maintenance it probably requires, and its not open for all of the season. Would much rather see some flats in this area. Only down side would be all the trees that would be removed.

Is there any chance Carowinds would start using parking lot trams on busy days? They could use the walk way in place for them. Crazy to walk from parking lot sign 26 or the south gate area to the north gate with a family. Takes a good 15 minutes with no shade. Think it would be a great customer service add like Dollywood. What are your thoughts?

I do think the trams at Busch Gardens Williamsburg are a plus. Even if you get good parking to BGW (for those of you that have been, I'm talking about the Italy parking and Ireland parking), you still have a long walk to the park entrance. Also, the trams are free, so that's a good thing. If Carowinds added trams, do you think they would charge? That might be an issue.

That would be crazy. There are a ton of parks that have trams and none of them charge. Carowinds used to have trams at one point. Just off the top of my head, I remember parking trams at Holiday World, Six Flags Over Georgia, Dollywood, Silver Dollar City, and both Busch Gardens. Two giant parks I can think of though that do not have them are Cedar Point and Six Flags Great Adventure. Both of those parking lots are more square, though, so I don't think the walk would be as bad from the back of the lot as it is at Carowinds since the Carowinds lot is so long and narrow.

Hopefully they just keep the south gate open. It seems like the cost of operating and maintaining trams would probably be higher than the cost of just keeping the gate in service.

Replace Rapids with a better water ride such as Intamin Aquatraxx. And that may satisfy folks who miss the log flume ride.
