General Carowinds discussion

Now I can see how they can completely construct the new toll plaza and not disrupt the traffic flow. Very nice photo. You can also clearly see how the new entry road can easily be shifted outward so it no longer make that curve after you leave the current toll area. The coaster area does not look as large as I had envisioned. Maybe it's the scale, being that the area is further away in the photo. Can one of the resident artist overlay the coaster plans over this photo?

Just look at the size of Intimidator (230 feet tall) and Hurler (80 feet) in that photo and it's easy to get a sense of how huge the new coaster will be and how it will fit into the area.

What do you think? You see where the new road makes the turn right after the new toll plaza area, do you think it will make a straight line into the parking lot or will it piggyback the current road for a while and then make the turn in? If they go straight in, that would open up a lot of undeveloped land for the park. Could they actually be planning to push the main entrance of the park out further than we originally thought?

After you round the curve towards the left upon entering the new toll plaza, you'll follow the curved road as is for a bit, them it makes a tighter curve. The current straight away into the current toll plaza is being removed.

Great shot! Who needs a sky tower... Just buy a plane ticket...

The earlier leaked plans show that last bump left/right, then sharp left turn into the existing tool plaza going away where the bump left/right will become a left turn towards the parking lot.

More importantly, hopefully they get ride of the left exit at the end of the parking lot. I left there around 11 am a week or two ago after dropping some kids off, and almost got hit by the non-stop line of traffic exiting from the beverage/fireworks/hotel area ignoring any stop signs.

Tosu97 wrote:Awesome pictures! Does anyone know if they plan on having the new toll booth open by Scarowinds to help out with the new traffic problems in all the construction? Or is this something we're waiting until the spring for?

I was thinking the same thing. Scarowinds opens September 12th so they have 1 month and 2 weeks to finish. I doubt it will be open which sucks but atleast Centurion/fury325 construction will be in progress. Really the only reason why I'm going to Scarowinds this year is to see coaster construction.
