General Carowinds discussion

I really hope he can see that building the water park up to be full scale is a great way to go. Out of all the in park water parks I have been to, kentucky kingdom and dorney has the best set up. And added touch would be to extend it to thunder roads left side and have its own entrance. Even though I'm a fatty I love water parks almost as much as I like roller coasters, so to have a world class inark water park in my back yard would be supreme...

Who do I talk to to set up a meeting with the mikester??

Even though I'm not a water park fan, I've always thought that the small size of Carowinds' water park is a missed opportunity. Significantly increasing the size seems like it would bring a remarkable increase in attendance since I'm in the minority and so many of my friends love water parks.

I always thought the Heritage Island waterpark across the interstate was very nice, and it is a shame they tore it down. But yea it would be great to see Carowinds expand theirs.

I'd be willing to bet there is another Boomerang Bay expansion coming in the next five years. All I know is the best thing they can do immediately is add trees. And I mean a LOT of trees. Walking around the park it's very easy to pick out a number of places where you could plant nice big, fast growing trees for shade and visual pleasure.

Hopefully they don't consider planting trees as major. I will be one of the most outspoken people for planting trees... Not even for shade, but just for atmosphere. It really does make a difference. It makes walking around Dollywood, SFOG, ect seem bigger and so much more mysterious and hidden.

^why do you guys want a hotel smack dab in the park?

tarheel1231 wrote:Man, if they expand the water park, build a giga, and add more flats, we're gonna NEED that hotel! :D

The park doesn't need a hotel. They're plant of hotels around the perimeter of the park. The park isn't a destination park just yet and I honestly feel it takes more than a roller coaster to justify a hotel. Cedar point is a destination park, not because of roller coasters but because it has a lot to do. You have soak city, you have the challenge park, you have the beach area. The only way I can see a park hotel working is of its its done in the fashion of castaway bay featuring things to do when the park is closed.

I don't think the preposed Resort Hotel would be placed on the other side of Thunder Road or where Camp Snoopy is located. Mainly because there's not enough room, especially if they want to expand the water park in the TR parkinglot.

I would think the hotel would go in the newly purchased land, and we'll probably see Camp Snoopy moved to that area as well. I doubt they announce a new resort hotel on the 21st but I wouldn't rule it out.

I think if they ever do build a hotel it will be in the back of the park near the campground. That way they can both share the same facilities and they could put in a resort gate at the back of the park. Carowinds is the attraction, not the hotel, so you really don't want it in the front taking away from the great view of the park from the interstate, just like the first thing you see when you enter Cedar Point isn't any of their hotels. They are tucked in the back with the campground.
