General Carowinds discussion

next week should see the pace pick up and footers being poured rapidly as crews will not have to contend with crowds everyday. The new toll plaza looks like its being prepped for asphalt so that may happen soon. Personally, I dont see how they can continue construction around the front of the park without closing the north gate and using the South gate for Scarowinds.

That has nothing to do with why they will only be operating on weekends. Through pretty much the entire history of the park (and virtually all seasonal parks in the United States) weekday operation has coincided fairly closely with school schedules for both attendance and employee availability reasons.

After reading many of the clues and reading various thoughts, do you think it is possible that they will brand/theme the ride after the Charlotte Hornets? They did mention the net and all, and they refer to how you can only contain it (aka Michael Jordan). It seems the Roman theme has been scrapped, but maybe that is just misdirection.

And... if, for some reason, they have teamed up with the Hornets, will MJ be there for the announcement on 8/21 or on Media Day next spring?

I would like to be the one to say, Welcome to Carowinds Connection! We usually have a great time and I hope that you do too. :)

I appreciate those welcoming words! The news on the 21st should be great! Many of us here in Atlanta are really excited too!

If what we've seen is the actual track it doesn't really match the Hornets colors (nor does the invite colors) because of the green...

With that said, though... the net thing does kind of suggest a 'big' hornet that can't be easily caught... someone a few pages back suggested that the 'coliseum' clues, along with 'we can't name it the Charlotte Coliseum someone already did that' were hinting towards the old 'hive' that was the Hornets (misnamed) home for years...

How about this. Fury 325 kind of suggests it too. Carowinds wouldn't be trademarking the Charlotte Hornets name, because of course the trademark is already owned... but they could call it

"Hornets Fury 325"... it could have the Charlotte Hornets logo, with "Fury 325" after it... which would be trademarked... and is...

Just more guessing of course. The name kind of fits.

I agree. I feel CF would not be willing to pay the NBA licensing fee. Not even sure if the league would even allow it for something they did not control. But there is nothing that prevents them from using a hornet theme and using the colors.
