General Carowinds discussion

I consider the solid "hanging" track to by cyan; that seems to be a more accurate color. Our track is the dark teal/yellow track is ours

By that logic, that rusty, unpainted track is ours too.

After look at this pic again, I have to say... I don't know that I've EVER seen track as big as the ones next to the car are. I mean, what in the bloody hell are they for???? The box beam is short and the cross ties are 4 foot long! If we are certain that the teal/yellow track belongs to Carowinds, then has some other park somewhere purchased a B&M giga?

Also - Look in the background on this pic at the painted supports.

Those aren't brown like the Thunderbird supports are. They look kinda gray-ish to me. I wonder if Carowinds track will be teal/yellow with gray supports?

Well, I know for a fact that the track being lifted on the crane is for Thunderbird (or so it looks that way). I am led to believe that the grey supports are for our coaster.
But we'll know for sure in just over 9 days...

B&M only paints the ends of the track when they are the first pieces before or after the transfer track (because those ends would be exposed for everyone to see). On that note, that track is probably part of a brake run/transfer track or something that would expose its ends. Also, this track kinda matches flyer track (as discussed before).

EDIT: The left track piece might be the storage track while the piece to the right might be part of the brake run (which makes sense given the height differences).

That is almost definitely what it is, good eye. I managed to find two very similar pieces of track on Manta when it was under construction:

Painted end of transfer track.

Track with short box beam and really tall cross ties for maint. bay.

I'd imagine the maint. bay track for flyers is designed this way to give the ride maintenance staff room to work on the mechanics that assist with raising/lower the trains. So I guess that's further proof the plain teal track isn't ours.

Nice pics !!!

Let me throw this one out here, and see what you think?!!

Is it possible that what we have here is the World's Tallest and Fastest Inverted Speed Coaster??? With the track sitting on the ground, it sure looks inverted. :wtf: But maybe that's just me!

The gray could just be the primer. They didn't paint Top Gun's supports until they arrived at the park as seen in this photo I took in 1998.

If they've crossed the imaginary line and started painting track pieces two tone, who's to say that ultimately the coaster won't have areas that are a completely different color? Maybe ALL of it's ours, ala cyclone :)

Can anybody tell if the different colors pieces are constructed differently enough that it can't possibly be for the same track?
