SDC have announced their new attraction for 2015 themed around a firehouse. The attraction will include an 8 story drop tower and 5 other family rides along with 4 shops and attractions. This will bring both parks (Dollywood) to date concerning a themed attraction or area centered around a firehouse and volunteer firemen. The new attraction is to take place of the Geyser Gulch along the silver river.

While it isn't an impossibility, it's highly unlikely. Dollywood seems to be stuck in the "big coasters bring in people but smaller coasters being in families" mode. And that won't change over the next few years either, ;) .

In all honesty, the double shot seems like a "lets just add it because we have an extra one laying around" kind of addition. Those towers are definitely not for the kids that this area is catering to.

The announcement wasn't quite as thrilling as I thought it would be. Last year, they said the 2015 announcement would be something coaster enthusiasts would get as excited about. I don't really see anything for this year that caters to the thrill-seekers. I am glad they're relocating the double shot from Celebration City (actually, it was spotted moving down Hwy 76 a while back, so it wasn't a huge shock...). That is a fun ride I always enjoyed at CC. I do wish they'd do something with the Ozark Wildcat. That was a fun coaster, and it's so sad to see it just sitting idle on the corner now.

ETA- I am SUPER excited, though, that they are re-using the hot air balloons that used to be at Tom Sawyer's Landing! I always loved that ride and was super sad when they took it out. I think this plan has done a great job of utilizing existing equipment (the balloons, swings moved from Half Dollar Hollow, and the Double Shot), so hopefully they'll have lots of capital to use for a new thrill ride next year...hopefully where Wild Wilderness Waterboggan used to be!

They did say that the area is to cater families of all ages from 3 to 93. I did update the original post with more details and it looks like #8, up the ladder, will be a junior tower. I'm thinking a Zamperla jumping tower type attraction.

I actually wouldn't mind seeing that coaster relocated at Carowinds. That's a nice twister woodie with no trim brakes. Awesome!!!

I.E. The Phoenix at Knobles was first known as the Rocket at Playland Park in TX from 1947-1980. The park closed down and the coaster was bought, relocated and restored at Knobles in 1985 as the Phoenix. I actually think this started the whole relocation of coasters trend.
