So, I showed the invite to my friend, just to see what someone who's
not over-thinking it thought.
He's a pretty big sports fan, and actually writes a sports column.
The first thing he told me he noticed was the saying "You can't stop it, you can only hope to contain it". He says that a slight variation "You can't stop him, you can only hope to contain him" is well known sports terminology (and a quick google search informed me it was originally Dan Patrick's famous catchphrase) meaning you cant stop him from scoring, you can only try to stop him for scoring
as much. I'm not the biggest sports fanatic (soccer is really the only thing I watch and thoroughly enjoy, but I do watch football occasionally) and I'm not sure if anyone has brought it up yet. He seemed to think they were implying a sports theme, and the patterns on the back he said reminded him of a fish or insect. It was nice to hear an "outside" opinion that's not influenced by all these conspiracy theories we keep spewing. lol.
Could that slogan be yet another hint at a possible Hornet theme (not necessarily the Charlotte Hornets, but rather just the actual bug). The Roman Colosseum references could be for the link to the Charlotte Coliseum, and for Carowind's future in general, while also indirectly referencing Charlotte being called "a hornet's nest of rebellion".
The beekeeper suits and fried nets are a big deal, in my opinion. It would seem to me that they wouldn't be trying to quote-unquote "trick" the media at this time, at least not in the way they want to mislead us and the coaster enthusiast community for fun. But I could be wrong. So I think that means in some way bees may play a part in the themeing of this ride. Maybe the name will be related to/come from the word Hornet. Or possibly be called Fury325 (although I hope not, personally. I want the height just not tacked onto the end of the name) with a big killer Hornet that stings like "lightning" as the mascot. Who knows? Seriously who knows! Spill the beans!
I'm really excited for what Carowinds has in store for us all. And I can't wait to finally see what they announce on Thursday!
The speculation has been fun! I've been a member for going on two years now and this forum has so many dedicated members, some take things a little too far, but even then its cool to see people getting so excited over the same thing. Thanks Jonathan for giving up a great place to talk about the park we all hold so near and dear!
