General Carowinds discussion

I disagree. I have not been on Kingda but have on top thrill and its WAY before you hit that fast of a speed. And according to this on ride video I found the camera is well before 3/4 down the launch. Top Thrill takes your picture on the launch and again on the brake run.

Let's just hope the photo isn't in as stupid of a place as it is on Intimidator. That's the only thing I don't love about that ride. You're practically in the brake run when it takes your pic. You miss all the best fear responses.

Yea its in a interesting spot. I-305 has the same thing the picture is right at the end before the brakes  I think the photo will be more toward the middle here, maybe even before going under the bridge. I really think there will be more than one photo spot though...

As some may know, I work at a radio station where one of my responsibilities is keeping up with the station's facebook page. We have over 105,000 people 'like' our page.
I posted a picture with this caption: "Carowinds Amusement Park just announced their new 2015 attraction: The tallest and fastest chain-lift roller coaster IN THE WORLD! 325 feet high, 95 MPH down a near vertical 81 degree drop! You riding?"

  • One person said it was a Millennium Force clone (OK, maybe not too smart).
  • Most of the posts include tags of friends with something along the lines of, "OMG, Season passes next year?!!!!!1111one"
  • A lot of people mentioned getting season passes for the first time in years, if not ever!
  • Others said they will visit for the first time since the 90s.
  • A few said, "Awww hell naw!"
  • They will easily make their money back on this investment.

Less than 20 hours after making the post...

I'm sorry but i don't want a picture where I'm looking real stupid with my eyes bugging out and sheer terror in my face. I'm not buying that one.

I'd hope so. Not sure how long that base has been curing though nor how long they want to let it cure before constructing. But I'd say once that's ready, if not before, we will definitely see vertical. :D :D

Any more news on new track arrivals yet? And I'd say in about two more weeks, we should at least start to see the station track sections being erected, then the brake run, then the start of the lift. I also don't know how far along the rest of the coaster's footers are. Seems to me there is still a lot more demolition work to be done before the rest of the footers can go in. I know that a lot of that area where the new entrance will be needs to be filled in and leveled with that pile of dirt before any footers can be placed.
We have a while before we see a lot of vertical construction.
We did say that this is the longest part of the construction.

Speaking of photo ops and all I think Fury325 is going to be one the best coasters for all around photo and video taking.

I know the entrance and parking are just renderings but if the reality of the finished product is anything like what the pics show the only place your not going to get a great shot of is the bottom of the drop. Maybe with a great lens.

I would like to see an on-ride camera placed just below the crest of the lift hill. You know, that moment between when you realize just how high you actually are and what an 81degree drop looks like. :D Plus at that location you really aren't ready to make stupid, thought out gestures. I like seeing actual reactions.

Gonna definitely have some great photo opps!

The old entrance was good and all but the new entrance is going to be way better!
