I have went several times. Last time I was there it got filled up pretty well. I love camping, and I love amusement parks. The campground wont be going anywhere... I think they were actually going to "update" it if I remember correctly as part of the improvements but I could be wrong. I will be going back again in September. Why would they remove something that is already successful for a hotel back there? There is plenty of other hotels near by....
Cedar Point has almost completely eliminated its campground for RVs, popups, and tents (CP may have always banned tents, if I recalled), replacing it with MUCH more profitable "cabins" that have been slowly introduced at KD and Carowinds. I don't see them completely eliminating the campground for campers in tents and RVs in VA and NC because it's not the same kind of "resort" that CP is. They can get away with it in Ohio and make four times the money (minimum price is $300 a night in cabins, which sleep far more people and are way nicer than most people's camp equipment). You would have way too much "back of the house" stuff (admin, maintenance, etc) between the current campground and the park for them to expand this direction.
