So is it possible the lift hill and first drop spine functions as an arch reducing (or eliminating) the need for support columns in that section? Compare Intimidator's lift to Fury's.

305 looks as though the arch rests on top of the second support column. Fury and Leviathan seems to be constructed like the St. Louis Arch, where support columns are not needed to hold the structure up. Perhaps those two columns are used for added support for those heavy trains. If they were needed to support the arch, there would be a lot more of them. One thing for sure, it's fascinating stuff.

To me it just looks great! I always loved the look of Leviathan's lift, and now we have Fury for Carowinds and we'll have yet another good-looking coaster in our park.
