Everything else goes here, including discussion of parks outside of Carowinds and any off-topic discussion

Remember a few months ago when a tv show was looking for a Carowinds "superfan" for an episode? I guess Cedar Fair ended up declining, but the show still got produced with some other parks. It's called All-American Theme Parks, and the episode with Dollywood will be on tomorrow (Thursday) night at 8. It's on GAC (channel 295 on my Charlotte-area TWC line up). There are two half-hour episodes tomorrow night, the second one has beach boardwalk parks.

I'm looking forward to checking it out. :)

Hopefully this is better than the brutal "Insane Coaster Wars" show on Travel Channel.

Here is the airing schedule: http://www.gactv.com/gac/shows_gcaba

Extreme Thrills: "We explore the over the top, cutting edge, next generation thrills that the Midwest has to offer. Which park has made a near death experience the most fun? The highest drop? The loudest ride? The most futuristic ride?"

Beachy Boardwalks: "Thrills, rides and games of chance all set on a Beachy backdrop. We will visit some of the east coast's most classic boardwalk amusement parks. Who will have the best classic coaster? The best boardwalk vibe? The greatest games on the midway?"

Steel State Wooden Coasters: "Pennsylvania is the heart of the rust belt, but this steel state has some of the best wooden coasters around. Plus we will see who has the best food offerings. While, Hershey park is home to a chocoholic's dream, Knoebels has been voted best amusement park food in the nation."

Themed Parks: "We are going heading out to find three parks with very different themes. We will experience terror in the wild Halloween themed park Wild Adventures, have an 1800's Ozark adventure at Silver Dollar City and get to experience Christmas, Thanksgiving and the 4th of July on the same day at Holiday World!"

Seems like a good choice of parks. Hopefully they go to Wildwood in the boardwalks one.

I watched the first episode of this today with Dorney, Busch Gardens Williamsburg, and Dollywood. It was significantly better and less cheesy (which isn't hard) than Insane Coaster Wars. I'll probably check out the rest of it.

I didn't hate it, either. Although some of the things they get the super fans to say annoy me. Like the guy at Dorney that worked there and knows everything about it, but got off Hydra and said "That first roll...I was NOT expecting that!" It just didn't seem to make sense that a superfan wouldn't be expecting a major element on an almost 10 year old coaster.

Anyway...I'll watch the other episodes. It's fun, and just a 20 minute investment of time (I DVR and fast forward through commercials), so I don't mind it. I'm looking forward to seeing SDC on an upcoming episode. I love Carowinds, but I still miss my old home park and love seeing anything about it.

We don't get GAC here in Gainesville, FL.....so sad. I would really like to see this show. Maybe someone will be kind and upload it to youtube or something so I can watch. :)

Yes, that effect is irritably overused, especially the Boardwalk episode. If they ever get around to filming Carowinds I need to have a talk with the producer..

Better than Inane Coaster Wars though
