General Carowinds discussion

There is clearly some history between you guys that some of us aren't privy to. Have the two of you ever agreed on anything?

As far as Scream Weaver goes...I would love to see it with a new color scheme, but I hope they don't relocate it. I think it's a super fun ride that a lot of people don't even know exists. Maybe foot traffic to Fury325 could bring more attention to it.

And, seriously, does anyone know why the height requirement is 54"? It seems less intense than Southern Star, which is just 48" height requirement. I'm sure I've ridden other rides similar to Scream Weaver with lower height requirements. My daughter REALLY wants to ride it.

I must agree that the 54" height requirement is pretty silly...I mean, it does go upside down, but the forces are so great that you couldn't really go anywhere if you tried while being upside down...

You're not making any sense. Saturator was repainted and, according to you, refurbed in 2006. You know, when Paramount still owned the park.

Cedar Fair took over in 2007 and killed Paramounts plans for the 5 parks, then removed Saturator in 2008. What's your argument? And please make it more than one sentence.

Exactly! Carolina Cobra and Carolina Cyclone both go upside down and both have 48" restrictions. There are other Enterprise rides at other parks with lower height restrictions. Or that require an adult for people under 54". I'm pretty sure that I rode Zulu at WOF before I was 54". But the restriction there now is 54". Do they ever change height restrictions for rides after they've been in service for a while?

IF, they do anything with Scream Weaver my wish would be move it to the County Fair section. I ride it about every other trip and always felt it was out of place, just like the Scrambler.

Scream Weaver used to be in the county fair section of the park as Meteorite . . .

Ride height restrictions are usually set by the ride mfg. IIRC, Scream Weaver is a Schwarzkopf ride and not an actual Enterprise, which is a Huss product.

That could be the reason for the variance.

^that makes sense. It sucks because I want it to be lower, but it does make sense.
Guess I just need to make my daughter to a park with a Huss Enterprise so she can ride. :)

Silly me...I thought we had finally gotten this thread back on topic.

ETA...RollerBee...you were the person who started this thread. I would think you would want it to stay on topic more than anyone.

Explain what? They repainted a ride that was operating in the park and then decided to get rid of it.

What does that have to do with tea in China? Or the Skytower?

You're not making an argument, you stating random facts that have no bearing on anything.

I tell you what, let's revisit this thread every October or the next few years and discuss how the Skytower is still there, k?

Yes, and where it should return. I.M.O. But hey, if they leave it as it is people still ride it quite often. At least every time I go it is packed. I would hope they at least dress it up being so close to Fury325.

I know this slightly off topic...but I worked in County Fair for many years in the 90's. Some of the rides had much different height requirements when the park was owned by KECO.
Scream Weaver, Thunder Road, Hurler were all 44". Scream Weaver was beside the Whirling Dervish (some called it Wave Swinger) in County Fair.
Goldrusher was 36"...I still have an old training manual. (And all these were without seat belts and much higher hourly capacities). Thunder Road and Goldrusher did not even have fin brakes when we operated them during this time. Goldrusher could operate 3 trains on busy days easily.
I personally loved it when Scream Weaver was down in Country Fair with the Wild Bull and Whirling Dervish.
