General Carowinds discussion

As much as I will miss the Plantation house next season, I can't wait for the new entrance to be constructed.
I think our park will benefit greatly from the efficiency of Cedar Point's similar one, and it doesn't hurt that it's very pleasing to the eye either.

I only now am realizing just how open that area is and the skyline spewing out over the new plaza will make the park itself look so much bigger upon entering. I can't wait to see work begin in that area. I;m nearly as excited about our new entrance as I am about Fury's construction!

...Gone

Whoa. Count me in that group who is sad to see it go. This pic took my breath away when I first saw it. But, after visualizing all the new stuff and just how much space is now open in this pic, I'm excited to see the new stuff. It's amazing how much of the view was blocked by the building.

I'm gonna share this on the ACE Southeast Facebook page and credit you gabed, and CC.

But we will be healed soon enough.

While we mourn the loss of the Plantation House as a historic landmark of the park, the new open entrance with Fury 325 at center stage will be dramatic and exciting. Great times to come next year.

Count me in for a few things:

1) Tired of the negativity. Tired of the complaints about every change and improvement Cedar Fair is making to the park. I like some of the Paramount things, too, but the changes Cedar Fair have been and will continue to bring to Carowinds FAR outweigh anything Paramount did.
2) Sad to see the plantation house gone but excited at the same time. I'm so used to that entrance and it made a nice southern statement but it totally sucked.
3) A end of year meetup on 11/1. Let me know if we're going to plan anything because I'm currently available and it would be great to hang out with come CC peeps.

No, from the computer model you can see that the new Plaza area will extend into what was part of the parking lot and a new bridge will be added. It also looks like in the model that the old bridge will be referbished but it will remain where it currently is. But remember this is a computer generated model and things could always change.

The old bridge was too steep to be wheelchair friendly and it was too narrow which created another bottleneck area. From what I was told, it is being replaced with one that will be wider and not as steep.

Makes sense. It was constructed before the ADA (americans with disabilities act) was in place and was long overdue to be revised. I remember as a kid pushing my mom over that hill in her wheelchair was always horrible...esp on the way out after having had walked around all day.
