If I had to guess what we will get out of the remainder of the expansion funds, I think we'll be getting a MAJOR expansion of Boomerang Bay in 2016, leading into the other side of Thunder Road (which I think will also be repainted in 2016 for it's 40th Anniversary). This will give them a starting point for even more, smaller, water park additions over the years on that side of the coaster.

As for 2017 and beyond, I'm betting Dinos will go bye-bye and they'll utilize that area to improve the Planet Snoopy experience. I'm hoping they can at least add some kind of thrill flat ride very soon, it's getting a bit ridiculous at this point honestly. I feel like they are planning a Wonder Mountain Guardian style dark ride soon at several parks (it'd be awesome if ours was themed to pirates and called Blackbeard's Revenge). A launched coaster may also be on the horizon several years down the road, especially if you recall the comments about wanting to bring one to the park, from an ACE event a while back. Personally, one similar to Blue Fire would be amazing!

But I think I'm getting ahead of the thread topic. :silent:

Hey guys, I just had an incredible idea, well, not so much 'incredible' but you get the picture:
IF Carowinds were to get a Launch Coaster in the future. It would be nice to see a strata launch coaster. The station could go in the Dino's area and the layout could straddle Carowinds Blvd. and return to the station. It would be like the Formula Rossa in Ferrari World, except taller and not as fast. Or maybe faster, whatever floats your boat (or if you happen to be an iceberg... Whatever sinks your boat :lolno: )

ANYWAY, back on point... The coaster itself, if it were a strata, could be themed to White Lighntin'. At night, as the train gets launched, the coaster could make a lightning and thunder sound, and the tower, as the train climbs up the tower, could spark and flash like a bolt of lightning! That would be cool to see at night, or even from far away. Whenever I get time, I will create a computer model and I will draw concept designs.

Cedar Fair... Are you reading this? I could be a future coaster designer some day.

If you ask anyone who has ridden a strata-coaster, (including myself), they will all day the same thing. It's an amazing experience that simply cannot be described with words.

However, despite the amazing sensation a strata-coaster delivers, I hope we never see one. I hate to be negative, but I will say this: There is a reason that only two have been built.

I understand how you feel. this one, however, would be different in all ways. As we speak, I am designing the layout (which will also include an expansion to the County Fair section of the park. You'll see when I finish.

Here is the basic idea...

I hope that 2016 will be focused on families and smaller children. I'm all for 325 foot giga coasters, but I don't want it to attract the wrong crowd. The crowd at SCarowinds is just awful, I'd hate to see Carowinds at day turn into this. So for 2016, I [s]think[/s] hope we'll see a Splash Battle, Linus Launcher, and Disk'O coaster. The only problem with that is space. Unless the Dinos are on their way out, Planet Snoopy is filled up (unless they can build on the other side of Intimidator in the parking lot).

I wouldn't understand the reasoning behind you eating before any ride especially if you know you can't handle it. That's such an issue with me and there must be a God somewhere that have not allowed me to experience someone getting sick while on a ride with me, the way my temper is set up is to short.

To my understanding the same crowds is there during the day or at Scarowinds, you'll just have children running around in the mix. IMO

As for me I'll actually be ok with whatever comes to Carowinds in 2016 big or small, I mean still want a frisbee and screamin swings however Fury325 will hold me for down. I'm more concerned with sprucing up the place with some light packages and a good lather of paint on the older flats especially ripcord being at the front of the park. All they need are two or LED color changing lights to shine up the scripture. Later down the line Fury may open up a nice enough space to develop a new midway with some flat rides and small food/game stalls like Gemini midway or something.

This most certainly wouldn't happen in 2016, but I could imagine a dive coaster like Griffon at BGW taking Carolina Cyclones place.

Remember those signs? The ones that said something like "prepare for a complete transformations above and below...below?!?!"

And then at the end of the Fury announcement they said they were looking forward to making a splash next year?

It's proabably gonna be a Boomerang Bay expansion. "below" could mean Australia!

Or it could mean the tunnelish dive...under the bridge...

but yeah...bring on that drop box 6 slide tower complex thats making the rounds at all the cedar parks lately...I LOVE drop box slides...almost more exciting that coasters...

If they expand the water park, and are looking to add more attractions in the future; It would make sense to see a south gate renovation like what they're currently doing with Fury 325 and the plantation entrance. It could very well inculde a coaster, but with such a straightforward (and large) layout of a strata-coaster I doubt something of that sort would be included. However, a south gate expansion/renovation seems like a very real possibility.

Yeah, I went a little crazy and designed the world's tallest, fastest, and longest roller coaster. However, I do see a future south gate renovation. It is highly possible.
