General Carowinds discussion

As much as I hate rumors, it's always interesting to read them and see what becomes of them. Having said that.....

I'm hearing that 2005 will bring some big changes to the park as we know it now. ;)

First off we will see a Boomerang Bay replica at the park although it may be called something else (carolina theming). This transformation will take place at the current waterworks site in addition to expanding underneath ThunderRoad out to the never used parking lot.

Next we will see a new flat in the park. More than likely it will be a Delerium Prototype. It's placement will be smack dab in the middle of the county fair section. In order for this to take place, PC will move some of their midway games over to the old Wave Swinger site.

The last big change will come with the remodeling/retheming of the County Fair. B)

My predictions for 2005................

The park will open somewhere around march and run weekends until memorial day. Around that time, Im taking a guess and going for weekday operations. Im gonna stretch it and say after labor day they will return to weekend operations. FOr some reason i have a feeling that starting weekends in october they will have something called scarowinds and it will have some haunted houses.........

Please remember folks this is just my speculation........

I don't know where you can come up with that, too many late nights for you. ;)

I can see a new flat or a boomerang bay but carowinds needs thrill like a hyper. I suspect that for this year a new coasters so there won't be a new coaster for the next two years. I am leaning more ro boomerang bay.

Boomerang Bay yes, but Carolina theming I doubt. Carowinds is a "Movie" park now.

Why would they move all the games over to a dark corner out of the way?

Let me guess, these are from the reliable sources at Screamscape :).

seriously...............I would like to see a water park expansion being that the current 4 towers can form a pretty long line. I know I mention in the first version of this site some names for a "newer" waterpark. Carolina Cove was one and the other was Carolina Bay (yeah, how original :P ). But while thinking, they already have the boardwalk area w/ has some focus on the sea side fun under the carolina sun (wait a minute.......that can be the pitch phrase!!) But anythings possible!!

I got another speculation about the 2005 season................Recardless of what they get/dont get its gonna be those few who are gonn pitch a hissy fit because their (and I use that word loosely home park dudnt get a ____________ this year or they shut down _____________ this year!!

Just came from Carowinds today (Monday, June 14, 2004)

I recieved confirmation from a friend who works in Public Relations department.
These are for SURE as of July 2004 for 2005.
1. Boomerang Bay WILL replace Water Works...bigger and better including a dark slide that acts like a water coaster similar to the Hydro Coaster at Schlitterbaum in San Antonio.
2. Where the Wherling Dervish (swings) used to be and the area by the games in County Fair just near Top Gun, will be either a Crazy Flip ride OR the Delirium...my contact said whichever will fit in the space better.
3. The Frenzoid will be dismantled by end of season 2006 to make way for something that breaks down less.

These are the RUMORS...
Flight of Fear...2006, where the Xtreme Skyfler is now
Remodeling and rethemeing of the Wayne's World area
Closing of Rip Roaring Rapids, in favor of newer water ride

NO MORE FRENZOID!!!??? I'm actually going to have to ride it this season, just in case this is acutually a reliable source.

I hope they get one of those water coasters, they were sooooo much fun. I might actually visit the water park for that.

Although it's kinda late, I would welcome Flight of Fear with open arms. Maybe they could use a different theme for ours if we were to get one. The Whirling Dervish area seems small to have flat rides of that size. Just think where the queue lines/exit would have to go and not block anything else, like AFX's entrance or the walkway to TG.

lol! I'll have to watch from a distance. While I'd like to give it a send off ride, I'm afraid I just can't take those restraints....far too painful for me. :(

Remember...nothing is definite until confirmed by the park. According to old rumours, Frenzoid has been leaving for years! If it does go, it wouldn't surprise me if they put a flat ride there.
