their target expansions are going to either be Carowinds or Kings Dominion.

The text above was taken from the "Closed Session Minutes – Cedar Fair Southwest, Inc." which was written on June 24, 2013. That document, as many of you already know is what contains all of the information regarding the $50 million dollar expansion given to Carowinds by Cedar Fair.

That sentence however, has always had me thinking, especially; "or King's Dominion".

So here's my question: What if the expansion was given to King's Dominion? It is possible that the expansion was never intended to go to that park, but there is also an equal chance that it was.

What do you think would have been added to King's Dominion? What coaster, or coasters may we have seen at that park? What infrastructure changes would have been seen at the park? And... what would've happened to Carowinds? Think both short and long term.

Please post your predictions, but be realistic and logical.

To be honest, I think that was just a ploy. KD seems to fit it's market well, and they really don't lack much. I think they would have gotten a new front entrance, and I think they still will. Just not as quickly. As for coasters, I dunno.

It's not hard to see that Ouimet isn't going with Intamin, likely from his experience working with them at Disney in the past, as well as their CF track record. And that park isn't going to be building anything by B&M anytime soon.

I think KD will still get everything intended to go there. Had the deal with Charlotte fell thru, like there was any real chance of that, then they may have gotten things quicker.

They got the atmosphere package that is rolling out to parks. They're adding to the waterpark like the company is doing everywhere. They'll likely get a new dark ride like Wonderland and Knotts (they have room in the mountain), and they'll likely get a couple new family flats like the company is rolling out. Beyond that it's anyone's guess.

KD most likely won't get a dark ride in the mountain because there are most likely supports all throughout the interior.

There's plenty of room in there. Plus there's that whole section of the mountain that used to house the Time ShAaft.

Hindsight is 20/20....
Notice the concrete walkway that is used as Central Gate...
It was designed to go all the way through the perimeter fence for a purpose, incentives or not I suspect 2015 would have changed little.
