General Carowinds discussion
#66074
Cool. Great that it's practically confirmed now. It would be cool to get Gauntlet back too, as another 2015 surprise but I doubt it. My interest has been peaked on what the other surprises are, I hope one is a fountain. I feel like every great park has a unique fountain or two. Fingers crossed, I guess.

What else can we actually expect going into 2015?

"Carowinds - Music Theater Addition
The project consists of a 1,500-sf building addition to the existing Carowinds Music Theater. There will also be sitework associated with the addition to provide pedestrian access to the building via an accessible ramp. No new water or sewer services will need to be provided to the addition. Lastly, there is an existing parking space at the rear of the Carowinds Music Theater which is currently covered by existing trees on-site per the tree ordinance. Based on discussions with Robbie Zink and Kelly Robertson this project will be reviewed ONLY to confirm it meets the low-density PCCO, and for compliance with the Tree Ordinance."

This is a pretty small thing, but I don't think it was in the flyaround video.

There will apparently be planters rowed down to the other side of the bridge to make the entrance even more grand. (I still hope they work a fountain in somewhere though :D)

In terms of other "small" surprise improvements they could make, 2015 will be the Carolina Cyclone's 35th Anniversary and adding the vest-style Cobra trains could make that ride much more comfortable. I really hope that's on their radar!

I totally agree with you. Carolina Cyclone would about 14 times better if it had better seats, and maybe they covered that underground part so its dark? :)

The underground part was covered for a long time, but the cover was removed due to bees.

Having the helix be enclosed again would be cool, but the whole bee situation seems a little dangerous and would probably be too risky for the park. Maybe they could use some sort of alternative material that could be easily removed and cleaned/checked on a regular basis? (like vinyl tarp or something?... idk.)

At the end of the day, the tunnel won't affect how comfortable the ride is, but new trains definitely will. :)

The bee excuse was absolutely absurd. There are countless parks in warm weather regions that get lots of bees that have tunnels on rides.

If the bee thing was a scare tactic it worked. I am genuinely afraid of being stung by bees, since I'm allergic. But all bugs in general freak me out (btw, did any Scarowind's Skeleton Key rooms feature bugs like CP?).

Maybe soon we can get some tunnels back since Carowinds is so popular with Cedar Fair these days. haha.

Goldrusher used to have more tunnels as well...

Since when? Goldrusher has always had one tunnel and the ravine. The brake run had a wall on the Saturator side but never one on Goldrusher side.

it wasn't the bees. They probably got tired of cleaning all the dam gum off the roof from inside the tunnels.
