General Carowinds discussion

I know many of you visit Carowinds frequently. But for some of us we have to space our trips out a bit more and have to buy tickets rather than passes.

Anyway, I am going to Carowinds on July 11th (Just in time to catch the parade - provided weather is good). I got a nice hotel package with tickets for $20 each.

I have a few questions though:

1) Is the parade drawing more than normal attendance and/or keeping more than normal crowds til the end of day?

2) Is there anything like a baby care center at Carowinds like you find at Disney parks? I know many of you are too young to know or care, but it don't hurt to ask

3) Is there a single rider line on Borg? Thought I heard that recently. If so, how long is the wait typically in single rider vs. standard. Also, are any other rides doing single rider now?

Thanks everyone. Carowinds is looking better than ever this year and I am genuinely excited to visit again. Even more excited than when Top Gun opened. Maybe it's because I have a kid of my own now, but it's also because of all the little extras Carowinds is presenting this year... really cool.

HAve a great time. I can anwser one ?. That The borg single rider goes slower than standard but less people in the line ( about 20 people equals 40min in sr line.)

10= 20 min
5= 15min- 10min
less 10min

it goes pretty slow.

One time I was in the line and a went into single riders and when I got on ( which was like 50min my standing spot was already been on.

Yes there is. It's located near the Carousel.

The single rider line is now closed for good.

The ride ops didn't know how to use it properlly, and it caused a lot of problems.

Well I'M old enough to know about the baby care center. I've used it enough
with my own kids. It's not nearly as fancy or nice as the ones at Disney, but
it will do. They have a microwave and lots of changing table space. They also
have rocking chairs for nursing mothers and privacy screens. There is always
an attendant there and there are bathrooms for small children. It's right across
from the carousel and next to the entrance to the Scooby Doo ghoster coaster.
It's peaceful and quiet and cool. You'd never know you were right next to a
roller coaster.

The Borg line is slow (like everyone said) Get there when the park opens and head
straight for your "assimilation". (Entrance is just beside the Skytower)

I hope you have a really fun and safe visit!

Thanks everyone.

I discovered Baby Care Centers on my last visit to Disney. Obviously I wouldn't expect the same level of Center, but it's great to know that Carowinds has one.. I really was expecting a "no" answer.

Too bad about the single rider option being discontinued. For this trip it would have been ideal.

<_< I wonder... does carowinds do anything like a child swap program. It would be nice if we only had to wit in the Assimilator line once and then switch up after the other has rode once.

I would try the child swap thing at the Borg. I don't think it would be the same
as it is at Disney, but you could wait in line all together with your child(ren) and then let people in front of you until the first rider gets off, then let the kid(s)
step through the train to the exit with the first rider, then you get on. Just explain what you are doing to the ride ops and they should be able to handle your request. I've never done that on the Borg, but we switch off all the time on Top Gun, Scooby, and Goldrusher with my son (who isn't a coaster fan, yet). They assign where you sit on the Borg. Unfortunately, you don't get a choice and I'm not too happy about that since I always like to sit in the front car on the big coasters. You should have no trouble kid-swapping though. I hope you have good weather and a really fun time.

I was behind these people who did a baby swap on the Borg *** once. The ride op even yelled to the other "We got a baby swap!"

Carowinds44, read my post, its closed now.

Yeah, I'm not sure what this "child swap" thing is. Could y'all please explain it to me? Thanks. :)

Is it where the kids step through the ride and wait at the exit until you get off?

A child swap is when 2 parents ride a ride and their children wait in line with them. One of the parents rides the ride while the other lets people skip them and waits with the kids. The 1st parent then comes back into the station and parent 1 gets out and the kids walk through and the 1st parent and the kids wait for the 2nd parent who boards the train after the children walk through. Parent one and kids then join up with parent 2 after he/she has ridden. Thats a child swap.

Well, actually at Disney and Universal, one parent waits in line while the other waits at the exit side (often with benches at the mentioned parks) until the rider gets off. Then the other parent gets on in their place.

It eliminates the problems of having a young child have to wait through a boring long line only to not be able to ride and it gives the parents an opportunity to ride an attraction without having to double wait time unlike others without young children who get to ride together in the first place.

It's just a customer curtisy for both the parents and those waiting in the lines. However... since riding lone is not nearly as fun, most parents only do this on something really exceptional or new. Hence, the only reason I ask is because Borg's line sounds very long, but we both (my wife and I) want to ride it since it is new and different.

It's also different at Disney and Universal because on some
rides, riders get off at a different place than they get on.
