General Carowinds discussion

What can they put in the space where miniature golf is that they can't put in any of the other empty plots of land? Why remove something that makes extra money (even if just a little) when you don't have to? Everyone does realize Carowinds has dozens of unused acres, right?

Not even read all of this thread but I know this has been mentioned I would bet. I say 2015 will be the last season for Dinosaur Alive. Hopefully it will. I think the big new attraction for 2016 will be an expansion of Planet Snoopy into the old Dinosaur Alive area. Everything about it makes sense to me. Should have no problem holding 2-4 new rides in that area plus maybe a new bathroom and a food stand.

I agree. I've been pretty vocal about how good I think Cedar Fair has been for the former Paramount parks (compared to its predecessor, at least), but I think Dinosaurs Alive was a big misstep. Even if it was a financial success (and I don't necessarily share Edwardo's confidence that CF is right with 100% of their decisions), it was still a pretty silly idea. I will definitely welcome its demise throughout the chain.

Fortunately, it's temporary, unlike other potentially financially successful yet tragic decisions like the removal of the Sternwheeler and flattening of the island and river.

Which leads me to ask, does Carowinds not already own all the land next to the campgrounds behind hurler wrapping around to the land purchased back in 2011?

I personally feel knotts has the best peanuts ares out of all the parks. I think carowinds has the atmosphere to do just what knotts has done. Right now, planet snoops has too may rides geared towards ages 4 and under. The only rides for kids 5 and up, to me, are the flyers, the former flying dutchman and...well that's it! A med size ferris wheel wouldn't hurt...as well as chance aviator...

I don't feel that CF is 100% right at all. In fact, I think there are definitely better choices than DA especially. I doubt that Matt would have added them.

Having said that, I've heard that the investment was highly lucrative for what it was. The point is, they're there. Putt putt and DA are there and maybe they'll go away as early as next year. But if they were such a bad idea (*cough*Rockband Live*cough*), they'd be done already.

And loco I count three. Realize that people are going to disagree so don't take it so personally, and there is no need to quote the post directly above yours.

For the record, I have seen people playing putt putt nearly every time I have been at the park. Not many, granted, but at least one group of people.

Does anyone think that DA will be removed in 2016 to perhaps make way for the big splash? I definitely see PS getting an expansion soon. I occasionally find myself in that area of the park just for the heck of it, YOLO. The scenery is excellent but compared to KI and CP Planet snoopy's I believe ours is due for an upgrade. To make Carowinds the "Cedar Point of the south" you can't forget about the youngins and just build mega thrills. Remember: "Quality, not Quantity!"

This is just purely speculation, but I think:
2016: Boomerang Bay Expansion + Vortex getting the "Rougarou treatment" + Thunder Road repainting.
2017: Wonder Mountain style Dark Ride.
2018: Dino's Removed to make way for a Planet Snoopy expansion.
(and fingers crossed for at least one good flat ride addition at some point in the next few years!!)

They have spoken about wanting to improve every aspect of Carowinds, and I think this would be the way to go, honestly.

Planet Snoopy has been neglected since it's transformation (actually, its been harmed with the removal of multiple attractions like Gr8 Sk8 and Joe Cool's Driving School).

I also think that we have a Planet Snoopy expansion coming in the near future.

As far as the dinos go, younger kids really seem to enjoy it. I'd like to see them reduce the footprint by half and keep a small representation at the back of Planet Snoopy since Carowinds has plenty of room to expand without having to take away all of the dinos.

I'm a big Nick fan, but the money they have to pay to nick to use their rights quickly adds up to more than what Cedar Fair is paying for this big expansion right now so I'm fine without it.

I absolutely HATED the Nick theming. I for one am glad it's gone and rather enjoy the look of the Planet Snoopy theme. Keep in mind I enjoyed it as a child when it was Hanna-Barbera Land so nostalgia takes over.
