What the park really needs is some sort of launch. What do you guys think of a giant slingshot ride like Cedar Point just got?

Slingshot was solid - the video was not working, so I could not buy that for the first ride with my girlfriend, but I have been on the one in Orlando (years ago). Sure, the ride is not long, but it is fun to do! I do wish that CP had a price for re-rides etc.

Wish granted! lol

They're going to have a media day for the announcement... I don't think they would have an event over some water slides. I'm thinking it might break a record somehow. Worlds first looping log flume!

This is slightly off topic, but in a video I saw (it's on the other thread somewhere), Mike said "about a month from now" is when an announcement for another 2015 ride will be. So that places it somewhere around the Winter Warm up (if not during that event). He said it will "put you back up at 300 feet". So I'm assuming that it is the sling shot and it will be announced at the winter warm-up.

Now about 2016: What it we are getting a water coaster like at schlitterbahnn? That would be great.

I doubt the park is just adding a few water slides. First, it's the second year of a major expansion, so I'm sure they're gonna have another media event. Second, I would expect a major waterpark expansion, not just a few new slides. A renovation and major expansion would be worthy of an event.

I know for a fact that Camp Wilderness is getting a major expansion. All cabins and RV sites will be renovated and we should be getting around 10-16 new cabins. Also, a new parking lot for the campsite with lots of trees within the parking lot. Just check out the pdf files of all of the plans. It's there.
As for the water park, I have no clue. But I'll stick with a water coaster of some sort. Or better yet something new entirely that has never even been heard of.
I have no idea.

I'll be pleasantly surprised with whatever we get. Personally, I too think it will be a major waterpark expansion.

So now that the slingshot has been announced is there a possibility that there is something else still in the works. This announcement was a lot earlier than expected.

Yeah, I was expecting the announcement to be during the Winter Warm up. There still may be something that will replace the game stalls in front of Scream Weaver. I really don't know.

I think they went ahead with the announcement early since word had leaked out.

Word of everything almost always leaks out but isn't always correct so I doubt that is why the press release went out yesterday. Things like that take time to plan (press releases) so odds are that it was planned to be released yesterday all along.

I apologize if this was already discussed, but now that Fury 325 is being built, looking down the road 4-6 years, where do you guys think they could fit the next major roller coaster?

I agree that I hope we end up with some type of launch coaster at some point, but even something as "small" as Maverick would take up quite a bit of room. Assuming that we are getting a major water park expansion next year, it's hard for me to imagine where the next major roller coaster could be placed. Especially since both Intimidator and Fury 325 both had to essentially be placed outside of the park. Plus, I don't really see Cedar Fair removing anything as I feel they've already removed anything they no longer want in the park.

Thoughts?

I personally think it's obvious that the next "new" coaster coming to Carowinds is the floorless transformation of Vortex.

As far as a truly new coaster goes, I will be shocked if we don't get a launch coaster of some sort. A launch coaster is really the only thing Carowinds needs that it doesn't already have, (other than a signature wooden coaster). This may be wishful thinking, but I imagine if Thunderbird goes well, we may see more spring up around the country and possibly Carowinds.

While on the topic of future coasters, does anyone know which Cedar Fair park is getting the big new coaster in 2016? I've heard both Michigan's Adventure and Canada's Wonderland.
