General Carowinds discussion

Just from watching the video on camera2 and all the heavy equipment moving around, it seems like the initial work they are doing right now with moving dirt and all the preparatory work is at least $1 mil of the cost. Diesel is expensive and they're using a lot of it each day.

They are putting in a TON of work today! I hope they get this piece up on Fury soon!!!

A model of the new entrance?

FamousAmos wrote:It's all very interesting. However, no mention of the sling shot ride.

Yes, but Mike hinted pretty heavily about adding a slingshot in an interview that swampfox43 shared a few days ago.

^^This I have realized. I think that these plans were created before the plans for the sling shot. And yes, I am also planing to create model of the new entrance to go along side the model of the old entrance. This model will be done at a later date, say around October of 2015. My current model I plan to have complete by early January 2015.

This was brought up in the Fury 325 thread so I'm mentioning it over here to keep that one focused just on Fury 325.

FamousAmos wrote:What would the dirt stockpile behind the Toll Plaza be used for? Right now they are just adding to it.

Any thoughts or speculation? I'm curious myself since it doesn't seem to make a lot of sense.

My first thought was your latter comment - they have excess dirt and are piling it there right now so they can get it out of the way for the new parking lot.

It could tie into another project but that doesn't seem likely. However Carowinds keeps coming up with stuff to surprise us.

I followed the path of the dump trucks delivering dirt to that pile. They are coming from the far right area on Camera 2. I think that, perhaps, that pile of dirt is actually waste asphalt from the road that has been demolished. Maybe that will all be reused for the new road and parking lot?
But then again, maybe it is just dirt. :? I don't know.
